Supernatural: 7x06: Slash Fiction
Oct. 28th, 2011 07:47 pmThings I Enjoyed:
+ The Guest Stars
Things I Didn't Really Enjoy:
+ The word "idjit"
Things That Were Alright:
+ Double Sam and Dean and Bobby
I really enjoyed the snark of the guest stars. I liked that the demon chained up in the basement was smart and snarky. And I loved the guy Bobby sent them to. "Ha.Ha. Is he always this stupid?" ... Yes, guy who probably has a name, he is.
And I sort of enjoyed seeing 'Dean' and 'Sam' murderin' folks all willy nilly. But. Their "we are bad and naughty and slightly evil" faces got a bit old after awhile. I know. Jared and Jensen are human and only have so many facial expressions. But, I have a headache and pms. So there.
I'm not sure if I liked the Doubles oh so casually talking out loud about Sam and Dean's flaws. On the one hand it was a bit amusing. On the other it wasn't that necessary.
I like that Sam found out about Amy. I did not care for his reaction.
I think that it was in character and the whole. "I can't even with you! I'm going to stomp and huff off now. Please secretly follow me and make it better."
However. What I would like to have seen is. Sam punching Dean in the face and saying something along the lines of, 'Stop, fucking lying to me. This isn't going to work if we can't talk.'
Oh! Crowley and the guy at the end (ps. where do I know him from?) I really enjoyed them together. I'd like to see more of them together.
This is the second time Dean's had to kill 'himself', right? Or has there been a third time I'm not remembering?
Aaaaaaaaaaaand. Bobby's an alcoholic? Really? I don't think so. Yes, he does drink but ... didn't he stop for awhile? I'm pretty sure he did. And I don't know if an alcholic can just STOP whenever they feel like it.
Even though there were a handful of things I disliked or that annoyed me, I really sort of enjoyed this episode.

Okay. The main point of this post is ... Why did they name this episode Slash Fiction?
Guy gave Sam and Dean the alias of "Mr. and Mr. Smith.
Of which there will be a handful of "Well, we are newlywed, Sam. Let's go have our honeymoon." fictions written. (and if there isn't, that'll be disappointing)
And then. Double the amount of Winchesters for multiple pairings and such.
Just.
Was the title meant as a free pass for all the stories that will be written.
Did they mean slash in another way?
I don't get it. Though, to be fair. I'm really glad this is the episode that went with that title because I saw the title awhile back and was terrified that it was going to be another breaking the 4th wall episode.

Both of them at points of this show over the last couple of years have needed to punch the other in the face and then just be like 'talk it out, bitch, be a man'
Wait, there were evil! sam and dean? Did they make out? (I figure that's a no but still)

Date: 2011-10-29 03:03 am (UTC)I was thinking they were meaning it in the old slasher film way. Since the evil!Sam and evil!Dean were basically the psycho killer characters from slasher films. A few of those scenes felt like Natural Born Killers. Maybe not slasher film in the accepted sense, but in the pure sense of the words? Yeah. Definitely.

Date: 2011-10-29 03:04 am (UTC)I love the word idjit. Slash Fiction is what producers and shit used to describe horror films with a lot of slashing of the knives back in the... mid 70's, maybe? I'm not sure when, or if it's entirely correct, but that's the gist of it.(no subject)

I was hoping for a little Sma punching Dean moment there, too.
The police/FBI has thought Dean was dead in SKIN, both boys in JUS IN BELLO (unless Henricksen never sent that memo out, I'm not sure on that) and now both again.

Date: 2011-10-29 04:53 am (UTC)Ok, so I laughed during the ep. and now here. Because Sam definitely paused for the 'nooo, please don't go,' and the writers want Sam to be a girl. That is all I can come up with. Scratch that, because many women I know wouldn't pause. They wouldn't throw a punch either but mentally, Dean's balls would be twisty-tied. S'all I'm sayin'.
I may have died of love forever with that glorious bitch fest between Crowley and Leviathan Dick. Rawr. Crowley brought muffins...his writer loves him and knows my heart.
Well, the diner scene was Pulp Fiction, Bobby even called them the names of the characters from the movie. But the slash, idk. Lots of things I saw in the episode screamed 'we read and check your lj's'. Like the 'my little pony' squeaky thing, I know I've seen those on other's accts.

Actually, they can...sort of. When my dad was actively drinking, he stopped cold turkey for about a year. Just like that. Unfortunately, he eventually picked it back up. I don't know if it was a conscious effort to stop, however. It can just be part of the disease.

Date: 2011-10-29 07:27 pm (UTC)I guess I see Bobby as a more "high functioning drunk" i.e., he drinks all the time, but can still get shit done--until he isn't needed anymore for a job then he gets all maudlin and wasted and "blackout drunk"
