What is done cannot be undone
I think I liked it. But I think I would've liked it a lot better if it had been closer to the beginning of the season. I just don't really understand the point of going back - they already did that like the "THEN" showed and as Castiel said, "All roads lead to the same destination." so, uhm. Why'd they do it? After Dean was all, 'We gots to go back, yo.' Why didn't Castiel say something like, 'Hey, Deano. Remember when I sent you back in time before because I was bored and how you didn't actually do anything except get frustrated? Good times I mean for me but uh ... the same thing would happen this time around even if Sam were with us.'
That said.
My favourite part was Sam's face when him and Dean were at the door and he was seeing his Mommy and Daddy. Jared had real good face there.
My least favourite part was FakeUriel. What the fuck was with the different actor?
There were a handful of lines I really enjoyed but I can't think of any of them. Boo.

Date: 2010-02-05 05:09 am (UTC)lol I love me some SG1 if you can't tell ;)
tho there's a good chance I goofed up some of the facts about those eps since it's been a few years since I saw them... whatever, I'm over it haha
so uh... the ep was worth watching? this is vital information since I never watch when it airs anymore.

Date: 2010-02-05 05:18 am (UTC)But I agree, I always loved the time travel stuff ala SG1. Or eps like "Window of Opportunity" where they were stuck in the time-loop. Still better than "Mystery Spot" in my honest opinion.
I could never get into SGA for reasons I can't remember (I think I was pissy that they were getting cool stuff and SG1 was STILL dealing with Ba'al or something. idr) and SGU is a no-go for me. I'm such an elitist :P

Date: 2010-02-05 05:26 am (UTC)Oh man, "Windows" is easily my all time favorite SG1 ep. I've seen it SO MANY times. Way better than SPN's "Mystery Spot", but I didn't like that one much to begin with.
I'm one of the odd fans and didn't find SGA hitting an interesting stride until seasons four and five. Seasons one through three were the Rodney McKay Show and I really don't like McKay that much, esp. not for an hour on a weekly basis. His charm was in his relatively limited screentime on SG1. But four and five branched out to different team members. Not to say there wasn't bogus nonsense happening then, but at least it was bogus nonsense happening to somebody OTHER than McKay.
SGU is ... not very good. I spent the first seven eps just railing it and wishing I hadn't promised to give it a full season before deciding if it sucked or not. Episode 8 was the time travel-ish one and it ruled. The one after it sucked and ep 10, the last ep aired before mid-season break, was pretty pimp. Esp. how it ended on an awesome cliffhanger.

Date: 2010-02-05 05:37 am (UTC)btw, did they ever address what the Furlings looked like/where they went? I remember the Nox showing up in one ep, never to be seen again... but did we ever see the Furlings? other than the ep with Sam & Jack's wedding and all of the movie ideas Martin was pitching lol

See, that's the problem I had with it. I hated Rodney because of who he was on those few eps of SG1, and couldn't stand him pretty much having his own show. I heard it got so much better after season 3, which is just before I stopped watching.
I'll probably end up watching Continuum just to get my Jack O'Neill thirst quenched. If I could afford to buy the series, I would; I miss it so much and my SyFy rarely airs it anymore. And I wish I could go to a Stargate Convention. They look like so much fun :(
(sorry for making it all about Stargate up in here, Smidge)

Date: 2010-02-05 05:43 am (UTC)Nope. They referenced them a few times, about their tech and whatnot, but none ever appeared on the show.

Date: 2010-02-05 07:25 am (UTC)See, back in "In the Beginning" they just wanted to see if Dean could.. trick? Yellow eyes into going all evil-overlord-who-hasn't-read-the-list and start monologuing his plans, but know you had one angels that wanted to change things, one that wanted to 'fix' them, and one (or Heaven?) who was all like "Don't fuck with daddy's plan or I'll smite you".
So I guess... different rules and big brother makes the rules?

Date: 2010-02-05 07:39 am (UTC)I thought sending Dean back was to show him that no matter what Sam was going to be EVOL and Dean had better sit the fuck up and do SOMETHING about it or Castiel was going to hide Sam's body under a new building.
Which didn't make sense to me since Castiel had just said, 'You can't change the past. All roads lead to the same destination, yadda yadda God's plan blah blah wanna go play snooker, bestie?'
This of course all before Sam and Castiel became "friends" which, I'm not really sure when that happened. At first Castiel wouldn't or would barely shake Sam's hand. (Did he when they first met? I can't remember) and then from there on, I dunno, just mostly seemed like he tolerated Sam because Dean liked Sam but secretly Castiel wanted a lot more alone time with Dean because whenever Sam was around Dean focused all his attention on Sam and not him and Castiel didn't like that at all.

Date: 2010-02-05 07:46 am (UTC)In "In the Beginning" Castiel tells Dean that yeah, he hadn't deloreaned him to change stuff, but that now he knew what they (heaven) did, and sort of implied "pity YED has read the Evil Overlord rules".
When Sam first meets Cas, he fangirls al over him, Cas shakes his hand with both of his and calls him the kid with the demon's blood. So yeah, not an auspicious start.
I guess in the 70 or so days Cas hasn't been on the show he went to the sassy_otp community and got the memo Sam isn't bad, just misunderstood, and perhaps he figured he's got an in with Dean is Sam helps him? Either that or he's angling for a Winchester sandwich, to which I say, God speed, Cas.

Date: 2010-02-05 09:02 am (UTC)I agree so much. I was like ...but wasn't this already done in S4?
Jared was pretty damn amazing in this ep.
Uriel/Anna just pissed me off grrrrrrr.

Date: 2010-02-06 06:16 am (UTC)Y'know what's one of the things I'm still kicking around in terms of the time travel funkiness? The garage. So, John's boss gets killed, right? And we know that by the time Sam is a baby John and his buddy Mike owned a garage. So, does this then mean that the authorities found the dead boss guy in his ransacked garage with a sigil on the wall and his eyes missing or did the Michael clear that up? If he left it, did it make any other hunters' spidey-senses tingle? And since the boss is dead, were John and Mike then the only mechanics around and, like, offered to buy the garage off of Boss Guy's widow or WHAT? Obsessively over-thinking minds want to know.
