I was wandering around Wal Mart and there was a boyfriend and girlfriend (maybe husband and wife) they were standing in front of where the tampons are. Just standing there for a moment or two. Then he picked up a box and smelled the box before handing it over to her to smell. They walked away with no tampons.

WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO SMELL A BOX OF TAMPONS? I was very tempted to go over after they left the area to smell the box just to see if there was a scent but I didn't want to look like a crazy person.

Some of them are scented, but they usually say that on the box. I don't think it requires a sniff test to determine what's scented and what isn't, unless they wanted to try and figure out what a vag would smell like while wearing one. Bizarre.

See, this doesn't seem weird to me. I sniff everything at the store that comes with a scent before buying it - I open up shampoos, deodorants, laundry soaps, lotion, etc and sniff. If I'm going to have to smell that smell until I use up the product, by gum I am going to make sure it's one I am okay with. Yes, this would include scented tampons, if that's what I wanted. (I don't, but same principle.)

Those other things that you mentioned, I get that. I smell those. I think I found it the oddest that he was the one who picked up the box and smelled it first. I dunno. Maybe if he had opened the box before smelling it wouldn't have seemed quite as odd or maybe it would've been more odd. I don't know.
