This is a post about whining, unlike my other posts which are always filled with joy. :p

*kicks at icons*

I'm hoping to post the ones I made from 3.03 today if I get them done. There's over 50 so far because I couldn't and can't stop and I didn't even icon the one scene. And I'm probably not iconing another certain scene.

And chances are I'll maybe get two comments on them and that's fine, I guess. I just. I dunno. (ps. That's not a hint to go running and comment on the icons if/when they're posted - just stating the facts, ma'am.)

:yawns:

Sometimes I'll see people using icons that I've made but they didn't comment and I wonder, is taking an icon without commenting the same as reading a fic without leaving feedback?

I think Thursdays will be my day of rest on the Let Sam Eat drabble front because hey, today could be the day.

I love if you tilt your head a little Jared's mouth looks like heart.

That's obviously because his mouth is lovable. Hrm. Maybe that's why the no eating? So we can always see it?

I think no, it seems worse somehow.

I'm looking forward to the icons, even without those certain scenes.

How goes it today?

I sometimes (often, lately) don't leave feedback on fic or comment on icons and I know that's sucky but I don't think they're quite the same thing. Well, I feel worse about not leaving fb for a fic than saying "I took this and that icon, will credit", especially if the icon maker already has a lot of comments because I am not adding anything whatsoever and I just assume that it doesn't matter too much. I should still do it though, I know.

Because I'm an idiot I tilted my head the wrong way and thought "hmm, I can't see... wait" and tilted it the otehr way. You're right. That is awesome.

I used to make icons, too. I wasn't half bad, but yeah... it gets frustrating when no one comments. But anyway, I guess as someone who both has been an icon maker and is a fanfic author, I can compare? I think it's just been drummed into fandom more that it's the polite thing to do with fic...leave a comment if you enjoyed it. Whereas I think people might think that if they're taking the icons and crediting them, then you'll obviously be able to tell they enjoyed them, so why bother commenting? Or... maybe because the effort in saving/uploading new icons is such a pain in the ass, they don't want to bother with leaving a comment, too? I'm not really sure... Or maybe in the process of all that, they just forget. Who knows... when I was an icon maker, I counted myself lucky if someone at least credited me, ya know?

Graphic work is so often thankless and it's also really hard. Much harder than writing, anyway. At least with writing, yeah, there's always room for improvement, but once you've established your own writing style, there's really no need to switch it up too much. Whereas as an icon maker, you're constantly having to evolve with the new trends and styles and techniques, try to come up with your own, too... it's just a big headache.

Okay, so.. now that I've rambled, I'll be going now. Also, I think you do wonderful graphic work.

IMO not exactly, but pretty much-yeah.I mean, you can read a fic and didn't like it or get dissapointed and this is the case of "better say nothing".But when you take an icon, that means that you like it,so you can take 30 seconds of your time to comment and let the person who made it know! Both graphic makers and writers don't get paid for creating their stuff,so fb is sort of a pay!
Thats the way I see it anyways.

I feel ya. Honestly, the last SPN batch I did got a lot more comments than I expected, so I can't complain, but I put up a Dexter batch and it got 3 comments. And I was like... BOO YOU WHORES. I'll be honest though; I comment if I'm taking something from a new batch, but if it's more than a month old, I generally don't say anything when I take something. O_o Is that bad?

It seems like more and more these days people just aren't leaving feedback. I know I had over two hundred views of my last video and I got a total of 35 comments. And yeah, it's not about comments and all that, but man, I LOVE comments!

I almost never leave comments when I take icons. Usually it's because I'm going on a long icon hunt and I'm lazy so I can't be bothered to leave like 30 different comments. If I take a lot or it's a character who isn't iconized very often I will usually say something.

I also read fics and don't leave feedback too. So I guess I'm just a terrible person.

But we all knew that.

Sometimes I'll see people using icons that I've made but they didn't comment and I wonder, is taking an icon without commenting the same as reading a fic without leaving feedback? ~ I think they're pretty much the same thing. And it sucks. I know that if I created either icons or fic and I posted them and I didn't receive comments when people read/saved/enjoyed/whatever, it would kind of bum me out. Maybe it's not supposed to be about comments but the whole point of posting is to share with others, which sort of is a two way street. Which is where feedback comes in. Did that make any sense at all?...

AND. Speaking of icons, I just want to let you know: I only have a handful of favorite icon makers in this fandom, and you are definitely one of them. And I'm telling you this for no other reason than because it's the truth. Just consider it general feedback. : )
