This is a post about whining, unlike my other posts which are always filled with joy. :p

*kicks at icons*

I'm hoping to post the ones I made from 3.03 today if I get them done. There's over 50 so far because I couldn't and can't stop and I didn't even icon the one scene. And I'm probably not iconing another certain scene.

And chances are I'll maybe get two comments on them and that's fine, I guess. I just. I dunno. (ps. That's not a hint to go running and comment on the icons if/when they're posted - just stating the facts, ma'am.)

:yawns:

Sometimes I'll see people using icons that I've made but they didn't comment and I wonder, is taking an icon without commenting the same as reading a fic without leaving feedback?

I think Thursdays will be my day of rest on the Let Sam Eat drabble front because hey, today could be the day.

I love if you tilt your head a little Jared's mouth looks like heart.

I used to make icons, too. I wasn't half bad, but yeah... it gets frustrating when no one comments. But anyway, I guess as someone who both has been an icon maker and is a fanfic author, I can compare? I think it's just been drummed into fandom more that it's the polite thing to do with fic...leave a comment if you enjoyed it. Whereas I think people might think that if they're taking the icons and crediting them, then you'll obviously be able to tell they enjoyed them, so why bother commenting? Or... maybe because the effort in saving/uploading new icons is such a pain in the ass, they don't want to bother with leaving a comment, too? I'm not really sure... Or maybe in the process of all that, they just forget. Who knows... when I was an icon maker, I counted myself lucky if someone at least credited me, ya know?

Graphic work is so often thankless and it's also really hard. Much harder than writing, anyway. At least with writing, yeah, there's always room for improvement, but once you've established your own writing style, there's really no need to switch it up too much. Whereas as an icon maker, you're constantly having to evolve with the new trends and styles and techniques, try to come up with your own, too... it's just a big headache.

Okay, so.. now that I've rambled, I'll be going now. Also, I think you do wonderful graphic work.

I totally agree with the "drummed into fandom..." bit but I'm not too sure about the other, I think it's okay if you happen to run into the person who's using your icon but if you don't then how do you know that they're enjoying it?
