I went with Ainslie to see this movie today. And it was fucking amazing awesomesauceballs.

Joss needs to write all the movies!!! Or at the very very least there needs to be a sequel and Joss HAS TO WRITE IT.

Why has there not been a Black Widow movie? I'm sure a lot of us would be all over it like white on rice and confession on Jesus.

Everyone was so good together. There was chemistry all over the place. Gay, straight, bi, incestuous and Hulk.

I'm in denial about Coulson's death. I refuse to believe that they can't or won't bring him back somehow.

Oh! I heard that Alexis Denisof was in the movie but I did not see him. Did I miss him or was that false rumour?

Uhm. Okay. I don't really have a lot to say.

Mostly I just want to flail and keysmash and make random noises.

If you've not seen it. You should.

Why has there not been a Black Widow movie?

There's been an issue of female superheroes' ability to carry a movie for years. Hollywood won't invest in them because past box office has been shitty, but that's more to do with shitty scripting and (sometimes) casting for female superheroes. Again, it's not because women wouldn't put butts in seats, it's that the stuff they get saddled with is SHIT. Emotionally driven shit, things their characters wouldn't even be mixed up in. Elektra was so far removed from the character I remember from the comics I'd read with her, it wasn't even funny. Wonder Woman, which Joss was originally attached to, has been in pre-production hell, on the shelf and off the shelf, for YEARS because no one seems to know how to take her on. Catwoman suffered because that movie with Halle Berry, I don't even know. I'm not a be-all, end-all Joss Whedon fan, but if anyone is going to open the door to a GOOD female superhero movie, it'd be him. He knows how to write a female superhero without transforming her into, well, an emotionally driven idiot. And I say emotionally driven in the negative manner, not the good one which creates development and depth.

Well, that is just sad and unfair. I mean all of it.

If the rumours are true and there is going to be a Black Widow / Hawkeye movie, I hope to hell it's picked up.

Do you know if Wonder Woman is still on the shelf or has it been completely tossed?

It's pathetic, honestly. It also highlights why we need more females with some power in Hollywood. Not to say all females treat female characters any less fucked up than males (see: Sera Gamble and Supernatural), but maybe we'd have a better chance for non-romcom or shit wrapped up in FEELINGS and ROMANCE most female lead movies are about anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did go ahead with it. There were rumbles about a BW movie before The Avengers was released. They wanted to see how the film did and the character played with audiences before making a finale decision. Joss Whedon did a better version of BW than was in Iron Man II, from what I've heard from those who've seen it, so that helped it along greatly. But to pair up her and Hawkeye would serve both of them and probably make a great flick.

It's on the shelf yet again. Warner Brothers went for a small screen release after they parted ways with Whedon. I don't know if you heard about it, but David E Kelly made a pilot for NBC in hopes of being on its 2011/2012 fall schedule. The network passed (and given I've seen the unaired pilot, it doesn't surprise me - it was SHIT and this guy explains why well enough), so Wonder Woman's in limbo on television once more, too. It starred Adrienne Palicki as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. (You can see her in a promo shot of the revamped WW outfit here: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3336681472/tt1740828.) Some guy I've never heard of was Steve Trevor and he sucked, too.

As to the movie, I'd still like to see it done, but I really don't think Joss is the right fit for Wonder Woman. It terrified me, actually, when I read his interviews about what he wanted to do. Radically change her origins, costume and he said he thought her Rogues Gallery was lame, so he'd invent his own villain. Just to name a few. Joss knows Mavel comics exceptionally well, but he admitted to knowing less about DC and little of Wonder Woman. It's hard to deal with a character like her because she has a massive history spanning back to the 40s, she's changed a million times, but there are more recent comic runs where they could easily adapt that version to the screen for modern audiences. But until you get someone in the director's chair who loves Wonder Woman and knows her inside and out, it's just not going to be successful.

there is talk of a Black widow/Hawkeye backstory movie, I really want it to happen because I know it would be amazing. I really hope Joss at least will do the Avengers sequel, I know if anyone else does it it will not be as amazing as what Joss can do. i would love for him to write and direct the Hawkeye/Black Widow movie if it does happen too, no one writes awesome females like Joss does
I am in denial about Coulson too, at the very least if we get things like the Hawkeye/black widow movie he can come back which would be amazing

If they paired her up with Hawkeye, so it wouldn't be expected for just her character to carry the movie, also gives the added bonus of Jeremy Renner's hot star status of late, I bet it would be successful. At least it's a step in the right direction to giving us a SOLO female superhero movie. On par with the rebooted Batman and stuff Marvel studios has been producing the past several years.

I was thinking before I read this that I'd be pretty darn okay with a Black Widow / Hawkeye movie. They'd probably be quite fantastic together. And if Joss wrote it ... Well, that'd just be icing on an already delicious cake.

With all of the technology and such, I refuse to believe that there isn't a way that they could bring back Coulson. But if they can't, seeing him in a prequel would be nice.

Apparently they are doing a Black Widow origin movie. Which is awesome.

Robyn and I refuse to believe that Coulson is dead too. My theory is that he'll be the next Avenger ;)

I have SO SO SOOOOO LOVE for this movie. I need to go and watch it again... and already dl-ed it to rewatch certain scenes again and again. Joss proved once again that he is simply GOD when it comes to writing/directing!!! *happy sigh*

And it was also such a Joss-thing killing Coulson! *sigh* Like with Wash in Serenity. :-/

Man, I really hope that there'll be a sequel. Apparently the stars signed contracts for 3 Avengers movies!! So I'm hoping for a triology!! And all have to be done by Joss! They just HAVE TO!!

I'm also voting for a Hawkeye/Black Widow movie!!! It would be so awesome to get them in a movie together... And so I could also drool over Jeremy Renner and his awesomeness a little bit more! *gg*

Btw... Alexis was "THE OTHER" - the bad guy with Loki. Also, did you notice Enver as the cop? *g* I wish he would have had a bigger part though.

Three contracts?! That's hopeful. Maybe he won't write the second one and it won't do as well and then they'll be all, 'Uh, Joss? First we'd like to apologize and then segue directly into asking for a favour..."

Yeah, someone said that Alexis was The Other and that was the bad guy with Loki but I don't remember who that was. I mean, unless it was the guy at the end after the first couple of credits rolled?

Aaaand I read that there were other Whedon!verse people but I wasn't sure who was what and where. *whispers* Who is Enver?

Ohhh somehow I'm sure the studio wants Joss to write/direct the 2nd and 3rd movie. (or maybe it's wishful thinking on my part? I dunno) But I think they see what a tremendous success Joss brought them... and I also think Joss def. doesn't want to give his baby away and let it be ruined by someone else.

Yeah, I think The Other was the guy after the first couple of credits. Guess we will see him more in the sequel then.... maybe?

Have you watched Dollhouse? He was one of the dolls... (Victor) And played a cop Captain America gave instructions to.

I'm totally with you - Joss needs to write/direct the next movie too. This one was awesome! I feel the same way about Agent Coulson. I just loved it so much and already have plans to see it again! \0/

Joss should just write all of the movies. Okay, maybe co-write on some of them. I'm hoping to go see it again.

Man, the whole "Coulson's kinda off-again-on-again with a cellist" side bit was (in hindsight) a big clue that JOSS WHEDON WILL KILL YOUR FAV, and yet when he died I was still all "NOOOOOOOO, THIS IS COMICS MAKE HIM NOT DEAD STOP IT NOW!"

Word is, the Black Widow movie will be a prequel (I imagine we will see what she was alluding to with her background and Hawkeye finding her and everything). I am officially crossing my fingers that Coulson will be in it.

I shouldn't have been surprised when it happened but yeah, I didn't see it coming at all.

I am crossing one set of fingers that Coulson will be in it. And the other that Joss will write it.

From what I understand there WILL be a Black Widow movie!!! And it needs to have Hawkeye in it. Yes.

I saw Alexis Denisof's name in the credits and WAS SO CONFUSED. Where was he? Was he the creepy voice guy?

In conclusion: Joss is boss. Always.

I know I would just cause I really freaking love ScarJo. LOVE HER. And yes, a large part of it is hugely superficial. The same can be said of my love for the few celebrities I have love for (not that not loving celebrities means that I hate them cause I don't...etc), though, so frankly idgaf, except for the part where I cared enough to type all of this.

I get that. About loving celebs for superficial reasons. I mean, it's not like we actually know them ... so yeah. I'd say about 98% of the celebs I 'love' is purely superficial.
