A couple people on my flist, perhaps more on yours, posted a link to this article/interview thingy. I haven't read it because as folks were nice to point out it has spoilers. But this bit was snipped out to share with the rest of the class.

- someone asked a question about how he’d play the angel Michael if Dean ends up saying yes. Jensen said he’d take inspiration from the way Jared played Lucifer possessing Sam in “The End” – in fact, when actor Matt Cohen came to Jensen for advice on how to play young John possessed by Michael, Jensen actually took Matt to his trailer and played him the clip of Jared as Lucifer. “See?” he said to Matt, “Same guy, but different. You’re still his brother, but also this angelic otherworldly presence.” Jensen went on to say, “I was really impressed with Jared in “The End” as Lucifer, really proud of him.” He says that if he does ever get to play Michael, he’ll take Jared’s lead and try to copy how well he did it.

Hahahaahahahaahahahahaahaha. No, seriously. Hahahahaahah. *ahem*

Like, really? Did he ACTUALLY LITERALLY say, "Same guy, but different." to Matt? I really fucking want to know what Matt's reaction was.

These are my guesses.

"Yeah, I'm an actor." / said like Jensen's a moron.
"Oh, wow. I thought Jared had a twin brother." / said sarcastically
"Damn, I thought it was a brother I didn't know about." / said sincerely because perhaps Matt's the worldest biggest tool
"Tell me about the rabbits, Lennie."  / more sarcasm.
"Get out of town and take the bus!" / okay, that one's just for me.

What are your guesses?

Uh, what? Jensen's going to "TRY TO COPY" what he believes* is good acting? He's not going to, I dunno, actually work at being a good actor?

*I think Jared and Jensen are mediocre actors. Apparently Jensen thinks that Jared's pretty damn decent. But your opinion on Jared's acting may be different. / disclaimed

This is totally my new RL canon.

Also, Jared's Lucifer? he was all weird and not in a good way... I mean, when he tried to portray compassionate, he came out as completely douchy, and it wasn't even in purpose!
And we know that he can totally play evil (see: Meg) and empathetic and adorable (see: Dean Forrester) which was why I found his Lucifer completely lackluster.

Wait wait ... just hold on a minute. Was he actually going for sincere compassionate? I thought he was going for fake/sarcastic compassionate like in Henry Rollins song 'Liar' when he starts talking about how he'll "never tell another lie again..." and he sounds all sincere until he starts laughing and says, "sucker." Hmm, if he was going for honest and sincere compassionate I may have to reevaluate my thinking on his Lucifer.

At a Con (couldn't for the life of me remember which) he mentioned how he'd tried to convey compassionate, because Lucifer was like the ultimate snake-oil salesman, and that somehow meant he truly believed he was being kind or whatever?
So yeah, after hearing him, I thought to myself "Ok honey, you need to call your acting coach back"

I still love them, though.
But yeah, it would've been a million times more awesome if he was just being a douche and mocking Dean with his fake-compassion.

I remember him saying that too, but I guess I interpreted it differently... I feel like a greasy salesman wants to convey compassion also-- but since it's not actually sincere, it's not supposed to come off as sincere on screen. He's conveying Lucifer conveying compassion, and Lucifer has a limited range of compassion.

Now I'm not that Jared's super brilliant, but I don't think he was aiming for making Lucifer into a Care Bear.

Hey, could be. If I could remember where I'd seen that damned clip I could be sure, but quite frankly my memory sucks. It might just be that they used the large version of the Lex Luthor suit of evil (tm) and it went downhill from there for me.

On the other hand, I could totally see Jared portraying a kick-ass Care Bear. XP
