Ahahaha. *squishes everyone, especially you, Clex, and alazysod*
I'm just a spectator to all this stuff, and I gotta say, what a show! Everyone must take a bow. *throws roses* I hope you're not allergic.
I said some not-nice things in Clex's journal about the wankers in the fandom, so I shall tone it down now. But I can continue to laugh as much as I want. :)
What's really funny about the whole "Jensen is fat" thing is that it got such a strong backlash. Where was the backlash when Elissa was calling Wentworth fat a couple years ago? Does this prove that the Jensen fangirls are even more rabid than the Wentworth ones? *nods emphatically*
*takes out tranquilizer darts* Time to tranquilize some bitches.
I was never on the Fat!Wentworth train but now? I wish I had been, because then I could compare things, yanno? But I don't remember seeing anything like this when people said he was fat. But yeah, I think Jensen Fans are a lot more bat shit rabid.
Oh, it was great fun. You shoulda been there. It's even immortalized in role-playing fashion by clex_monkie89, lissa_bear, jewels667, miss_mandy, and myself. *points to icon* But don't feel you have to read that whole icon. It's long like a mofo. But iffen you does, some notes: Sturmer is something Peter Stormare calls himself, and Cheesey (which comes up in the credits) is me. That was my dubbed name by the other four because I live in Cheesehead land/Wisconsin.
But ya see, we went on and on about this Fat!Wentworth thing and we heard not a peep from fandom. But them Jensen fans is crazy.
Seriously, that's what I keep thinking - it's not like this is the first time a celebrity has been called fat (I also find it amazing that stuff like Wincest, smutty RPS, AUs in which Jensen is portrayed as a hooker or a drug addict, and other more troublesome parts of the fandom aren't even blinked at, while mentioning that he may have gained a few pounds is cause for crucifixion).
I think the biggest difference between fat!Jensen and fat!Wentworth is that SPN is a much bigger fandom, especially on LJ, with a lot more people to notice the talk of fat!Jensen and go batshit over it.
And really, all it takes is one person to totally bend it all out of whack. If one person saw the fat!Jensen posts and decided that they were offensive, they could post their own entry on how they just saw a really mean post in which a so-called fan called Jensen a fatass and said he was ugly or whatever else. And the thing about Smidgy's journal is that a lot of people know about it and she's got a ton of "friends." Whereas with Wentworth, the whole fat thing was mostly talked about by Elissa and Julia, and they're not so heavily-friended (or at least not back then they weren't).
So I guess it makes sense, but like you said, it's not like this is the first time, nor will it be the last, so I don't know why everyone's so belligerent about it. Especially, as you said, since there are far more outrageous things than that in fandom. What about non-con? What about underage sex? What about the incest, whether brothercest or incest between a father and son (which I think would be even more disturbing, and I know John/Dean and John/Sam fics gotta exist out there)? Calling someone fat? And not even in a mean way? That's nothing. Seriously, didn't these people notice how Smidge was delighted by the pudginess? And didn't they read all the agreeing comments attached to it? Everyone was like, "Awww!"
But yeah, I'm babbling, and you agreed with everything anyway, so I'm saying it for nothing. But I just don't get it, I guess. Some people. *shakes head*

Well, one person in alazysod's journal is now arguing that anything you write in fic is cool, but anything bad you say about an actor in a journal or on a messageboard is not cool. Which is some awesome logic. So RESPECT!!! and "live and let live" only applies to fanfic, I guess.
