re: dressing up

I was going to go as Magenta but then there was talk and there's going to be a group thing next year.

I don't like to put any thought or effort into my costumes because I don't like dressing up, I really really don't and only do so so I don't have people tsking at me or sighing or whatever is they do to people who don't dress up.

The other day my friend and I were at Wal-Mart where I bought my already made costume. 'Black Widow' (as in the spider). The dress is black, long and fake velvet. It was cheapish. And so I bought it. Didn't really pay attention to the size.

Tried it on tonight. Uhm, yeah. Instead of 'Black Widow' I'll either be going as "sausage in black casing" or "fat girl trying to fit into a too tight dress."

So awesome!

Ooooh, creepy spider! (Can you not exchange it? Whatever, I'm sure it looks awesome anyway. PICTURE.)

I wish I didn't have a wedding to go to on Halloween, I really, really want to be Jack Sparrow.

Oh, hush. *squishes you*

I'm dressing up as a princess for my Kindergarten class, so I'll be the one who looks silly.

Nah, too much of a hassle to try and exchange it, I'll just suck in my gut a lot.

Dress up as Jack Sparrow for the wedding.

I bet the kids will love that.

I almost bought a dress yesterday like that. I was like, BUT! POLKA DOTS! But it made me look pregnant. I tried to convince my brother it would be cool because I'd just hold my stomach in the whole time I wore it and he gave me a Glare. Sigh.

LOL, yeah, not so sure it would go over so well. It's a really religious Jewish wedding. Why they had to make it on Halloween, I have NO IDEA. Weird. I wonder if the wedding colors are gonna be orange and black. I figure it would be preeetty hard to find decorations in any other color right now.

I have a plastic tiara and everything. And high heels that light up. I'm sure they'll love it, but I'll feel really uncomfortable. But hey, all in the name of getting candy the Halloween spirit! :D

Could you possibly modify it? I don't mean with actual sewing or anything... but maybe some selective use of scissors, and wear something black under it? So it's tattered and creepy?

Pay me no mind... I'm the one who's putting a velveteen cape on my kid over one of her dresses and declaring her to be Bloody Mary... because her "Hello My Name Is" tag says so. *shrugs*

The dress is long enough that I can bunch it up around the waist area to hide some of the fat. But too tight to wear something under it.

Hahah. I should get a name tag and do something like that.

I always used to do Magenta. It took me forever to get my hair like that. A zillion braids in my pin straight hair.

I wanted to take my wife to a showing tonight, since she's never seen it in a theater, but we had to go to a wake.

I think you will look awesome.

and I am all sad. I have to go to a wedding on Halloween and serve Halloween wedding cake to assholes.
I might miss my friend's party.
If I get to go, I'll have to be costumed as a wedding cake server.

Thank you so much! I try to have icons on hand for any occasion. :P

By the way, I *heart* Giles. :)

It wouldn't be too tight if you cut it to shreds! Mwahahaha! *thunderclap*

*cough* Sorry. It annoys me when costumes try to cop an attitude and be all difficult. If they aren't inclined to head in one direction, I'm liable to change directions radically.

And I am all about the Hello tags. They cover a multitude of costume sins.

Giles is my everlasting older man crush. I don't think I had a thing for libraries before Buffy.

Good plan having icons for every occasion. I usually just get stuck staring at the pretty.

I've always wanted to go as Magenta. Outta luck this year, though, because we're doing a Zombie Party this year. Which reminds me, I need a costume...

I hate how halloween costumes come in ranges of sizes. Do those things ever properly fit anybody? I think that's why sometimes it's easier just to wear underwear and a set of bunny ears. :P

Not that I've ever worn underwear on halloween. *koff*

With my hair, I'd just have to brush it and then voila Magenta like hair.

I've never been to a RHSP show myself but it does seem like fun.

I'm sorry you had to go to a wake. :(

The party is this Saturday. On Halloween I shall be sitting at home.

But what is with people getting married on Halloween? That's just ridiculous.

It was the husband of my wife's first cousin once removed. He'd been sick for awhile. But damn. I'm not ready to start burying our parents' generation.

If I were creative with skill, I might consider that but I'd probably just end up with no costume and over priced rag.

Probably not.

If I had the body for that type of costume and it was warm outside (since that's where the party is) I'd totally wear the underwear bunny ears costume.

This is actually the first year I've been excited about Halloween weekend in a long time. It must be the prospect of getting shwaasted and going to a club on gay night :D

You'll still look bangin off the chain in the dress.. might I suggest cleavage? That is a sure fire way to get people not to look at places you don't want them noticing; that is what I always do, heh.

Date: 2007-10-23 04:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com
I was thinking cleavage but the dress comes up very high, but I have big tits any way so I suppose I might be safe.

You could always cut away a wee bit, without hacking the dress to pieces.

Welcome to the Tig Ole Bitties Committee!

I have a costume like that. Jason says it looks fine. I feel like a sausage all tressed up for the feast. Um, no. Just no.

But on other news, like you care but I'm gonna tell you anyways, I'm dressing up as a "bat" for Tyler's kindergarten class. Black shoes, black pants, black shirt and a headband with bats boinging around on springs!

Gawd, what I cheap plastic whore I am. XD

Nah, the dress would probably fray and such if I did. I'll be okay but thank you for the suggestions.

Do I need to pay anything to be a part of this Committee?

Haha. I LOVE those kinds of costumes. Simple, easy and mostly non expensive.
