how do you interact with people online? I mean. how do you get people to engage in conversation with you?


also, while taking a tumblr break. I'm still looking at it from time to time. casually and slowly unfollowing.

This is why I prefer LJ over Tumblr (even though LJ is quickly becoming one of those rusty old bikes stored in the shed -- people know how to ride it, sure, but they are no longer children (so to speak) and are more interested in driving a cool shiny car -- Tumblr-- instead. I don't feel there is real interaction/connection on Tumblr like there is/was on LJ. There are many many shiny .gifs & people hit (and abuse?) the reblog button but you can't really comment? Or join communities to find people with similar interests and engage in conversation about fandom-y type stuff?

I agree with the person above me who said they're not all that interested in capslock fail (communicating in overly-involved fandoms?) anymore; that was something I did more when I was a college student. Sometimes I really just wanna flail and shorten sentences to express how pleased i am about [fandom x] but other times, I just want to revisit old friends that I've made over the years. I don't think I've friended anyone new on LJ for like 2 years? LOL. Grateful for the people who have stuck with me, though! ♥

Hmmmm not sure if you understand my meaning in this comment. Not really sure I do. I just love LJ and all the people I've met on it. I do love fandom but I'm definitely more casual about it now. I'm not all about OMG ICONS AND FANFICS AND FANDOM CHALLENGES but I do like those once in awhile. :)

There is definitely more interaction on lj well, for some people. I just. Ugh. I really miss how it was all shiny and pretty before and there were fandoms and you were in a fandom and friends with people in a fandom and you all flailed together over that fandom.

Some people have these great and wonderful friends epic conversations on tumblr but for myself and others it's a lonely lonely place.

And yeah, maybe not with capslock and such. But. I want to flail with people. And no one really wants to flail. I mean, there are these that people reply to and that's great. Let's me know that I'm still alive and such.

I love lj and I'm fairly certain I will never leave. I just. I miss people wanting to flail with me.
