Dear Everyone Who Replied To My Last Post,

Thank you for your input. One day in the future when I have some money, I think that I shall set up a Paypal account with my debit card. And spend money.

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to use my debit card (I have a credit card but I want Paypal for my debit) but according to the site, it seems that I can.

And lo, that is good.

Thank you. You're wonderful.

Sincerely,
Me.

I have my new PayPal account linked to the debit account...

And how is that working out for you?

I need to learn how to save first so that I have money to spend.

It's working pretty well because it's actually linked to the joint account, and that's just for house spending stuff, so I don't have the urge to spend it. If it was linked to my personal account? Then yeah, that might be bad.

You are in Canada, yes? You can NOT link a PayPal to your debit card if you are in Canada. The site claims you can, but it doesn't accept Canadian debit cards. I've tried it, but because you can't use our debit cards like credit cards, it doesn't work. I've tried over and over and over again to link my debit card to PayPal, and it does NOT work.

You have to have some form of credit card, even if it's a $10 prepaid credit card, to have a "verified" account. Otherwise you can just transfer money from your bank account to your PayPal account, and that will be accepted.

Motherfucker! Why does the site have to lie? I don't want to use a credit card for paypal. The whole point of having paypal was so I could use my damn debit. Ugh.

You could try and see if it has changed recently, but every time I've tried it hasn't worked. I think they just operate on the assumption that everyone is an American. You can get prepaid credit cards pretty cheaply, and once you link one of those to an account you don't have to actually USE the credit card; the money comes straight out of your bank account. The credit card is just there as a form of security.

No, apparently it hasn't changed. And now I'm trying to link my debit to it but I don't know where to find all the numbers that they want.

On my bank's website I can see my acct number and routing numbers. My electronic transaction routing number is NOT the same as the one for like, RL transactions.. /unhelpful

But I'm Canadian and it's linked to my debit card? (I bank with CIBC if it makes a difference...)
I do have it linked to a Visa as well, perhaps that's why I was able to link both?

It's probably the Visa. I've tried multiple times to link my debit card to my PayPal account, and it keeps asking me for numbers and information that do not exist on my debit card. I finally had to link a prepaid Mastercard to my account to be able to use it as a "verified" account.

In the U.S. they have debit cards that have credit card logos on them, and Americans can pay online with debit cards. Almost no one accepts Canadian debit cards online. My cell phone company does, but I don't know of any others, though I am sure there must be a few.

I've used paypal for years and have never had a problem with it.
I've only used ebay once and that was fine too, though I'm still weary of the site.
I don't trust people when they say their merchandise is genuine.
