Look, sometimes you need the rainbow flags and shit that annoys everyone, because so many people I know, even queer people, don't know he's gay. And if he's going to politicize queerness in general, he's going to be expected to politicize his own.

He's made his own "It Gets Better" video. I don't think anyone held a gun to his head.

Lots of straight people make "It Gets Better" videos too, and some of the people who need to hear about a Canadian icon being gay aren't going to watch it to see what he says. Or even care that these videos exist.
