Lost Girl | The Lying Game
Aug. 16th, 2011 07:24 pmI was watching a little bit of Oh Kappa, My Kappa last night and I have some words to say.
I really fucking love this show. So so bloody much. I need it back NOW.
Just. I like characters and their reactions. Most of the time.
When Kenzi watched Dyson morph into a wolf I like that her reaction was, 'Holy shitballs, that was awesome!' and not to freak out and wonder where she can get a gun to shoot him.
And then later with Bo, 'I totally saw his wolf junk. High five'
My point is, I enjoy that often times it's, 'Well, that is neat and nifty' and not 'Let's kill it.'
... I never said they were good or interesting words that I wanted to say.
* * *
Did anyone watch The Lying Game? When I read the description for it, I thought it sounded a bit like Switched at Birth and I suppose it is a little. A little of that and a little bit of a PG 13 V.C. Andrews novel thrown in but without the actual incest (so far). :shrugs: I dunno. I didn't think it was that bad. Plus it has Blair Redford (aka Ty from Switched at Birth) and he's nice to look at

Date: 2011-08-17 02:39 am (UTC)The overall goals and intent needed to be more clearly defined. I know that the questions are: why were they given up for adoption? Why was only Sutton adopted? Where are their birth parents? Why were they never told the truth? But those were never presented very well and they sort of stumbled into them clumsily.
And with a few simple changes, the premise would have a lot more tension to start. If Emma and Sutton actually planned on meeting after Sutton got back from Paris, Emma showed up and Sutton wasn't there, it would put a big mystery in by the second act. Have everyone just assume Emma is Sutton so no one knows Sutton is missing and Emma going along with it because she has no where else to go but at the same time feel guilty because she knows something must be wrong with Sutton. Inner conflict and motivation right there that gives Emma some depth.
But that might be what they're doing with Sarah Michelle Gellar's new show and who knows what the writers of Lying Game knew about that before they started production on the pilot.

Date: 2011-08-20 05:34 am (UTC)...um, while I do enjoy a few ABC Family shows...I will not be watching The Lying Game.
Mostly because, I DO watch ABC Family shows, and I've seen the previews, and they make that she seem AWFUL!
(there is more to playing a twin than an *angel*. ugh)
Also, that 'judging thing'? ugh. My daughter judges ME SO HARD! it's kinda painful, Chelle. really. my girl can be viscous!
me: (at work) hello?
the girl: mom? i think we've been broken into!
me: what? are you okay? get out of there!
the girl: no, no...they are gone now. and it doesn't look like they hijacked anything except the DVR.
me: (??)
the girl: yeah, looks like pre-teen girls got in and got hold of the dvr.
me: (??) WHAT THE FUCK, PRETTY?
the girl: yep. Pretty Little Liars, The Nine Lives of Chloe...someone or another, it's gross, Mom, some little girl has totally hijacked our DVR!
me: you suck!
the girl: no, YOU do. ugh.
yeah...so, see what JUDGMENT is like?
i'd pinch her hard, but it's funny...

Date: 2011-08-22 05:09 pm (UTC)she watched and enjoyed Game of Thrones.
and some British TV. it's perfect for her. She has a very short attention span and is not very loyal. So...22 episodes for what can turn into several years...just not for her!
She really liked The Misfits, The Office and The IT Crowd. She watched Luther with me, I'm not sure how much she really liked it, though, versus looking at Idis Elba being all dark and angsty. And this past weekend she was watching Sherlock.
She's also become overly fond of a very inappropriate cartoon, Adventure Time. Admittedly, so have I. It's no Pretty Little Liars, but it's very amusing.
