What if you made one of those, 'Hey, I'm doing a friends cut - comment if you want to stay.' posts and NO ONE commented? How shit would you feel?

Well, depends on who you cut. When I do a friends cut I usually cut the ones who never update their journal, so I don't think they would even notice.
And the others are people I added once but we don't have anything to say to each other so they don't mind either.
Why should I feel bad if no one comments? Or did I misunderstood your question?

Because you asked for those who want to stay to comment. And if they didn't comment .... what if that means they want to be cut?

Maybe they just didn't see the post. Some friends of mine don't have the time to go through their flist regularly.
So yeah, I would be sad but I would send them a note and ask and I guess most of them will say they just didn't see the entry.
Maybe that is a reason not to do an entry like this.
