Supernatural : 6x15 : The French Mistake
Feb. 25th, 2011 07:23 pmFirst of all it wasn't AS horrible as I thought it was going to be. However, I still thought it was stupid and I didn't like it.
And I am looking forward to (hopefully) iconning Genevieve. But man, I don't like that she actually changed her name.
Right then.
First their lives are a series of books and then it's a tv show and yet, there was no mention of the books. No, snarky comment about how tv shows based on books are never as good. No, it was like the books had never even existed.
I did laugh when they were 'acting' mostly because well, uh. Their "bad acting" wasn't - in my opinion - all that different from when they are being (over) dramatic in their normal acting.
I liked seeing Genevieve but I didn't care for her "character" ... and I really really hope that Jared and Genevieve's home isn't as douchey as that place was. But if they do have an alpaca in the backyard, that would be cool. Probably stole the idea from the Echolls.
Why did they not tell us why !Jared and !Jensen weren't talking?
I'm glad they got someone more attractive (sorta kinda) to play Clif.
Uhm. Hmm.
Oh! When !extra killed !Kripke that was kinda hot. I love when there's walking and guns being fired and no hesitation and yeah.
Misha was ... I don't even know. I guess he was the ... Hey, wait. How come !Misha knew what was going on (I mean, knew that he was an actor and such) but !Jared and !Jensen didn't? What did I miss that explained that part?
!Kripke and !Singer's reaction to !Misha's death was (and yeah, I'm going to use the "r" word - so if that offends you, please look away) retarded. If this was meant to be *their* real world and someone died? Would they REALLY have 'acted' like that? I don't think so. That bothered me a lot. Perhap's that's why I wasn't at all moved or bothered by their deaths.
I really really enjoy ... that guy. Whose character name or real name I can never remember. *looks it up* Sebastian Roché/Balthazar.
Mostly, I'm glad it's over and I hope to hell they never ever EVER do another episode like this again.

Date: 2011-02-26 03:32 am (UTC)Because fans are more often then not, assuming that when Jared and Jensen aren't smiling at all times that they obviously hate each other and will never speak to each other again.
That's how I took it anyway. LOL
Sera on the phone cracked me up.

Date: 2011-02-26 03:37 am (UTC)Oh God, I hope not as well.
I liked the "acting" bits and a couple others but that's about it. I'm such a Debbie Downer especially when most loved it.

Date: 2011-02-26 03:40 am (UTC)I had so much second hand embarassment going here that it wasn't funny. I felt that the scenes kind of draaaaaaaagged and after all the hype I was expecting more.
I will say that Gen looked gorgeous-and I'm not even a fan of hers.
BUT LOL WHAT THE HALE WAS GOING ON IN THIS EP? GOOD GOD.

This was such a sad episode. Well, pathetic would be a better word.

Date: 2011-02-26 04:04 am (UTC)You mean when he was talking with them about the key? They were shooting the episode the guys were actually "living". Misha thought they were just running lines with him, until they went off script. Because, remember, he was all, "Hey, did they add something and not tell me?"
This episode was stupid as fuck. And I am dumber for having subjected myself to it. Believe me, in my position, I need all the smarts I have.

Date: 2011-02-26 06:04 am (UTC)I'm mostly laughing at the fact that instead of spending money for more music in the show they paid for a clip of Days of Our Lives.

Date: 2011-02-26 06:06 am (UTC)Er...yeah. A couple of the fake "takes" that they did I was thinking the same thing. And then at the end, the scene with the angels? Felt like the same caliber.
I kinda felt more insulted than amused by the ridiculous pad "Jared" had in this episode. I just felt like saying "You know, we're not that stupid. We know these people aren't making that kind of money for a CW show. And even for a joke of exaggeration this was overkill."
Why did they not tell us why !Jared and !Jensen weren't talking? Between the griping "director" and Sam's "at least we mean stuff & are brothers here" commentary, I felt like the tone of the episode was very bitter. Like the writers were saying "fuck you guys, season 6 may suck but shouldn't you little ingrates just be happy that they're talking again?"
I think they've well and truly used up all of their "get a meta episode free" cards and just need to stop. Please. For cryin' out loud.

Date: 2011-02-26 06:43 am (UTC)It was very.. rude to the fans. From the "not a lot of them watch it" to the flashing ring close up to J2 not talking to the Clif inclusion. It felt like an even bigger slap in the face, which is what made me stop watching in the first place.
Too much.
I like the theory I've seen floating around Tumblr, RE: J2 not talking and the episode title meaning: something OTP-ish/sexual(ly confusing) happened between J2, so they're avoiding each other. Then it simply means all the flaunting of the Padalecki's wealth and marriage was more to piss off Jensen and less to stick it to the J2 tinhatters/fans who dislike Genevieve.
That still doesn't explain the line about Jensen never being to Jared's house before, which is OOC for what we know about the boys off-set.
/and now my head hurts.

Date: 2011-02-26 01:10 pm (UTC)It felt like they were making fun of themselves. I think they left Clif out of the show in DEFERENCE to the fans. I think they realize that we take that show way more seriously than any of them do, lol. And I like that.
Your backwards exclamation points threw me off so much I had to re-read this post about 10 times, lol. NEVER AGAIN, SMIDGE, PLEASE. My brain can't handle changes like that.
She changed her name? I didn't notice! Boo. I hate when women decide they love their husbands more than themselves. This isn't the 1700s anymore, ladies. You're no longer chattel. You no longer have to let go of yourself and become your husband's property. PISSSSSSSSSSES me off when women do that.
Also, she was fucking hot. As was Sebastian. I DID enjoy when Jensen-as-Dean-as-Jensen called Singer a douche for creating a character with his name, because that might be part of the reason I've never warmed up to Bobby. Or it could be my semi-irrational loathing for Jim. And! I LOVED THE PICTURE OF JARED ON A HORSE. I DIED LAUGHING, SORRY.
You have to go into these meta episodes with your brain turned off. That's my opinion. I watched it with Gavin because I figured this is one of the episodes he's old enough to see, and he loved it. So - brain off, or become 12 with no expectations, and you'll LOVE it.

Date: 2011-02-27 09:54 am (UTC)Yes, agreed. Some parts I actually laughed out loud in. Overall I pretty much had a look of disgust on my face. :|
I actually thought Gen was really pretty in this ep but man, world's most useless role. And the fake-crying was really bad.
I really really hope that Jared and Genevieve's home isn't as douchey as that place was.
Yes, amen. Those paintings? Wtfffffffff.
Misha was the best part about this shitty ep imo. I'm disappointed Ben wrote this episode - I always love his episodes but this was just badwrong and a whole bunch of DNW.
