Today I got about six inches of my hair chopped off. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet other than enjoying that a lot of the split ends/dry hair/blah bits are gone. Not all but most of them.

What is a decent tip to give to a hairdresser? This for a haircut that cost just under $20. (yes, I am cheap)

I bought The Good Humor Man, I've never heard of it but Jason Segel and Jorge Garcia are in it and I enjoy them. And I bought I'm Reed Fish. Never heard of this movie either but I like a good chunk of the actors in it. And also Repo! The Genetic Opera and Hell Boy II.

These were all previously viewed and it was buy one get the second (cheaper) one for a $1. \o/

When is LJ going to start on that 'Stalker Stalker You're a Stalker' thingy? (aka My Guests).

Oooh, I had a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks today. Mmm. So good. Thank you to whom ever it was that mentioned that they were back. I don't remember who it was. :/

Wow. My life is thrilling. :p

If they do a good job, I always tip 20%, for whatever it is, hairstylist, waiter, delivery person, etc.

I usually pay about $20 for a haircut as well and I tend to tip $5. Fortunately I have not had a bad haircut since I keep it pretty basic so I've not had to tip less than that.

Pictuuuuuuuures!

I can't wait to go to Nelson later in the month so I can grab me a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks.

I figure 20% is a good percentage for tip. I guess in the case of a $20 cut, I'd just give $5.

I usually pay that much for a haircut but I bet you anything you look good. \o/

I liked Repo, and I found Reed Fish to be sort of okay but can't comment on the other two.

Hmm...for $20, I would tip about $5. I guess you'd treat it like you do when you go out to eat--15%-20% being the standard.

And I usually tip more if they do extra stuff, like the time I popped in for a walk in cut and because it had been windy that day my hair was a rats nest. That plus all the split ends(and the fact that if you just look at my hair wrong, it tangles all over the place)meant that girl spent a *lot* of time trying to get the snarls out with one of those flimsy black combs before she could even attempt anything at all. I gave her a $20 tip on a $30 haircut.

Repo! ! It's weird the first time around, but then its cool in retrospect.

I wish I lived anywhere near a Starbucks. The one here closed, sadface.

I've seen it before. I enjoyed it.

Really? Ugh. *sends you one from 'round here* I've got three within walking distance. Two are closer than the other but yeah.

Nah, I still look like me.

There isn't a Starbucks over there? I thought they were everywhere now. You should right a letter to someone about that.

You can do that? I mean, just know what 20% is of the bill just off the top of your head like that? Cos, I need my fingers to count to one.

Ahh okay. I gave her $6 so I guess that was all right.

Just means you have variety? Haha. I used to get Starbucks in college every day, because it was right downstairs, lol. But here, I never got coffee there all that often because, well, it was far away anyway, and it's expensive. But it was nice having it there if I WANTED it. But I'm guessing other people thought like me, since it didn't make enough money. :/ Now the only "coffee shop" in town is, well, actually kinda of nice, but it's really far away. /ramble

Not really, I still look like me.

Can't comment on them because you've not seen them or can't comment because they were so bad that it would pain you to even talk about them?

Date: 2009-09-04 11:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com
I understand that.

That's a really nice tip there.

My hair also gets tangles and knots if someone looks at it wrong. Or if I move my head a centimetre.

I actually do 10% in my head and double it. So, say the bill is $6.50. 10% of that would be $.65, so double that would be $1.30, which is 20% of $6.50. And the trick to figuring out 10% easily is just to move the decimal point over to the left one digit. So 10% of 54.22 would be 5.42, and so on and so forth. I'm really terrible at math, but I've found this to be a pretty reliable method for me.

:P I still think you're pretty though regardless.

I haven't seen them then again I don't know if a movie was ever a 'physical pain' to talk about.
