Hmm...for $20, I would tip about $5. I guess you'd treat it like you do when you go out to eat--15%-20% being the standard.
And I usually tip more if they do extra stuff, like the time I popped in for a walk in cut and because it had been windy that day my hair was a rats nest. That plus all the split ends(and the fact that if you just look at my hair wrong, it tangles all over the place)meant that girl spent a *lot* of time trying to get the snarls out with one of those flimsy black combs before she could even attempt anything at all. I gave her a $20 tip on a $30 haircut.
