I'm sure they were fucking with fandom in a way, since they are aware slash fiction is so popular for this show. It's I don't run across many people who remember "slash" originally started out as a horror genre term. In fact, when I first heard about slash fiction (1994/95), I thought it was "slash" in that manner. I was like, "What kind of sick stories do you write about Mulder and Krycek, dude?" to a friend of mine. She was, "Uhh ... it doesn't mean what you think it does." After she explained, I went, "Oooh. *pause* So what kind of sick stories do you write about Mulder and Krycek, dude?"
