I really and I mean really did not like this episode.

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

I FUCKING HATE CASTIEL SO FUCKING MUCH. And no, not because he was working with Crowley and lied to the poor widdle Winchesters. No, I hate him because he's so fucking useless and lame and that growly voice is for shit. And I hate the way Dean is around him. But more on that later.

I knew based on last week's promo that I probably wasn't going to enjoy this episode because of how it was going to be Castiel-centric. I just didn't realize HOW much I was going to dislike it.

Right.

IMO a lot of what Castiel said and did in this wasn't that different from what Ruby did in previous eps. But of course, Castiel couldn't possibly be lying or anything. Cos, gosh darn it he's their friend. And he's an angel. And therefore he is good and light and made of marsmallow fluff.

Throughout most of the ep, I was swearing at Dean in my head. I'm sure so much of what he said was just a hypocritcal ... something or other* that he said to Sam about Ruby. (* I can't think of words, this is another reason why I'm very bad at Words With Friends)

When Sam said, "I'd die for him." I'm certain my head exploded for a moment before joining back together. Really? No, but like seriously really, Sam would DIE ... Actually, factually LITERALLY DIE for Castiel? I really hope not because with how Castiel's treated Sam in the past and how, I dunno ... he let SAM OUT so he could kill Lilith and get the Lamepocalypse ball rolling and then get all the blame for it, I think that Castiel would sell Sam's organs to pay for a wing washing.

And Dean saying that Castiel is like a brother to him? STFU.

Oh, uhm. I like Sam. And I enjoyed Crowley. Bobby was all right. Demon!NotReallyBobby looked like he could have been fun. <-- I feel I should point out something I liked.

I think that if Ruby hadn't existed perhaps I wouldn't have hated this episode so much. But she did. And therefore, I did.

Or maybe if ghost!Ruby had shown up and been all, "What the fuck? He's doing the exact same thing(s) I did and I was a 'bitch' and a 'demon who couldn't be trusted' but you still trust him and get all big fat weepy little girl? The hell is wrong with you?" And maybe Dean would say, "And look it how it all ended ... Bitch." Then Ruby would glare at him and say, "How stupid are you?" before disappearing and then MAYBE a light bulb would go off in Dean's head.

Maybe if that had happened, I wouldn't have hated this ep as much as I did. But it didn't. So I did.

I was waiting for this review because I knew I wouldn't be alone.

And Dean saying that Castiel is like a brother to him? STFU.
HELL TO THE NO! (You've already read what I think...I'm Lin_Da74 on twitter. I'm going to finally friend you here.)

he let SAM OUT so he could kill Lilith and get the Lamepocalypse ball rolling and then get all the blame for it
Before this series ends, I pray that it'll be brought up.

Yeah, do they NOT remember the whole thing with Ruby?

I liked it.

I think Castiel crossed a line and Dean knows it. I just hope that since he's not Sam, he won't be forgiven (like Dean sort of implied, to me). I don't even like Castiel, but at least it explained that he's a dick basically and they're all right to feel betrayed, I think. You don't betray the Winchesters once they let you in. And I don't know, I get the feeling that maybe Castiel isn't coming back for season seven (that could just be me though)

and made of marsmallow fluff.

that made me lol

This wasn't my favorite episode and I didn't enjoy it that much. Now apparently, there's Sam hate because he told Castiel that he did a piss-poor job of getting him out of heaven (WITHOUT A SOUL). If I was Sam, I'd be pissed too.

The only thing I liked about this one was? And I don't think you'll see it this way (well, you might but yeah) but hear me out I think this was a good one for those of us that don't like Castiel to dislike him even more. It just fueled how much I dislike him to an umpth degree and made me rage alot (okay I was silently looking over at my sister going "just.. just kill him") but I felt okay with that because I don't see how you could look at this ep and think Castiel was all fluffy bunnies.

I don't mind Misha (to a light degree) but I'm just done with Castiel period. I want him off my TV screen. And yes, good intentions and all that but he admitted pretty much that he knew better before he even went and did what he did with Crowley which, mind you, just left me thinking: THE FUCK.

Also? PS: I can't remember but if Crowley was ruling hell back then and could get near Lucifer's cage or whatever and knew about Death getting it all that jazz then what the hell? Did they (Crowley/Death/Castiel) maybe possibly barter and trade Sam's soul for something? Because I refuse to think it's all cut and dry and basically it's even more hinkier than normal.

Then again I may have confused myself more, in conclusion: THE FUCK and Castiel can go off my TV screen.

Castiel is a ~hot~ guy and not sleeping with either Winchester, so he's a-okay in my book!

... I did not see this episode, but I felt the need to snark on it anyway, lol.

Haven't watched at all this season, but I feel your rage. I feel like Castiel has overstayed his welcome.

I kind of knew what to expect and that helped me not dislike it very much... but now you pointed this simile with Ruby and I just... YES. I still can't get over how everyone (especially Dean) were mean to Sam in season 4, when he only tried to do what he thought was the best thing.

I liked Crowley. A lot.

And as I wrote on twitter, I kind of see what people see to believe in Dean/Castiel, but I will never get it! (I don't know if I sound clear here.)

I really fucking loved this episode - but I also agree with every single thing you said. So I think I mainly loved the directing and producing and lighting and all the technical shit that has nothing to do with the actual story, lol.

Sam irked me, though, with his righteousness. And you know I'm a Sam-girl, inasmuch as one can be a Sam-girl in a show that doesn't give us very much Sam. I just thought, "Ok, is he really not going to say, 'I know what it's like to try and save the people you love while trying to hide it from Dean' or SOMETHING?" So that irked me. But not as much as the thought of Sam dying for fucking Castiel, cuz, no. Just no.

This episode made me despise Dean/Castiel shippers a lot. Cuz this is for them, and this is their fault.

IDK, though. I loved Sam MORE when he was sneaking around and doing all sorts of evil shit when he thought he was doing really good things, so this didn't help me to hate Castiel more. It made me feel bad for him, in the way I felt bad for Sam. It made me hate the WRITERS a bit more, but I'm really hoping that next week, everything Castiel did to hurt Sam will come out, and that Dean will just realize that the only one who has ever had his back 100%, even if he went about it stupidly, was Sam.

I think I'm REALLY REALLY hoping that next week, Dean will look at Sam and say, "I get it now. I understand. I'm sorry." Or something like that.

I liked the episode, but I agree with you on many levels, especially how suddenly Sam's all "I'd die for him" and Dean is all "he's family like Bobby or Sam" and just NO, NO, BAD WRITERS. I mean, Sam couldn't even hug Castiel yet he'd die for him? And Castiel is on level with Sam in Dean's mind? Right. Dean has never been able to go against Sam, even when Sam beat the shit out of him in a hotel room and Dean said either stay or never come back and he left, in the next episode Dean was calling him to make things right. I'd like to see Dean sell his soul for Castiel. Yeah, ain't happening.

I think the only place we differ (and make a difference whether you liked the episode or not) is that I see Castiel going through what Sam went through, not what Ruby went through.

See, Ruby wasn't trying to do the right thing; she was pretending to do the right thing but was actually being evil all along. Sam was the one doing evil things but doing them because he wanted to stop Lilith. Castiel is doing evil things because he wants the angels to have freedom they can't understand and doesn't want Raphael to take over and bring about the apocalypse all over again.

That said, I oddly like Castiel a bit more now, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because he's not boring anymore. I was honestly surprised at all the lying and bad deeds he has done, and I like complex characters. I don't care much if he dies or goes completely evil when I very much cared about this with regard to Sam, but hell, he's finally interesting and I like that he's showing Rubyesque signs. I find amusement in the fact that diehard Castiel fans are crying bitter tears and can't believe that Castiel would ever, ever do this when like you said, the potential has been there since he LET SAM OUT OF THE PANIC ROOM.

worst episode ever, stupid annoying character that really played out his usage seasons ago but is being kept in to fanservice people instead of being written out as he should have been a year ago!!!
