I've gotten around to following the masses and have decided to move my livejournal entries over to dreamwidth (just in case). Uhm. How long is it supposed to take? It's been 18 hours and they're still not moved over.

It's pretty quick usually but a lot of users are backing up their journals right now so the queue is very long. When any part of your import fails or succeeds you should be getting a PM.

I've had a DW for a while.. never really realized i could import all my stuff over there. I shall do that in a few days, hopefully the queue isnt as crazy.

I'd recommend doing a Book: LJ Book just to be absolutely sure you have everything for posterity and then go ahead and jump in the queue.

find me over on DW whenever you get a chance, bb! when i imported it took like 10 minutes. but i think i had a total of 5 entries at that point, and it was not during the big rush going on now b/c of LJ's failing.

I have a DW account - and I might import my entries, I don't know. I'll be cross-posting but using LJ for the most part when it's working. It will get better - hopefully. However when it's not working I will use my DW account.

I ported everything to DW last year sometime and it took only about 10 minutes per account. The thing I loved about DW was that I could port all 3 of my auld LJs into ONE shiny DW account. So everything I wrote over here went over there. Some day I'll sort thru it and re-connect the links so my stories & master posts, etc., actually work again. Porting in unfortunately means that all the original "Click here to continue reading" linkies point to those old LJ entries. I think I've fixed about 6 of them; only about 300 more to go. LJBook is great too, and I see someone already turned you on to that.

Just to mirror what others are saying. When I first imported by LJ, it took 4 years of content a couple of hours to import. It's gotta be a backlog.

But there is also a way to copy/paste your lj flist to dw - as most people keep their names... I shall go find...
