Nope. It was a deal and Crowley said 10 years. The only trouble I have with the whole thing is that for all the people who have sold their souls to the Crossroads demons or whatever, they always die when it's time to pay up. So if everyone (including Dean) died and went to hell when their soul was collected, how could Sam survive without his?
