I don't know that I will ever know whether it's bad lying vs bad acting but I do honestly believe that Sam was mostly okay in Hell. Sure, Sam had a hold of the wheel when he jumped but I don't think he stayed in control. I think that he just doesn't want Dean to know just *how* okay he was.
