Oh definitely not on purpose. He gave a valiant effort, just as he did the last time, but he missed the mark.
I get the feeling that whoever's writing this, has no clue what to do, leaving the actors to just go at it based on who their characters are. Either that, or we're in for a huge mindfuck. I mean.. the year long Dean suffering and really confusing 'who's evil/who's not/what is happening?' storyline is all over the place.
