Now. Take 1 and 2 and run them side by side and you get 3. So in-line with what misread_ said, we're going to get both versions in each episode. 'What if they never came to the island' version (though I disagree with her notion of them crashing again, in my reading there is no crash and there never will be a crash) along with 'cannot get off island no matter what' version.
This sort of serves to explain Juliet's final comment from the dead of "it worked." Perhaps in her death-state she could bridge that gap between universes and see the other possibility--and maybe her comment of "let's get coffee, we'll go dutch" is something we'll see her say in that alternate reality when she meets James.
Because really, what's partly intriguing is not only what happens on the island and what it all means, but that "what-if" factor of how their lives would have entwined or gone seperately if they had never crashed. And really, you need a lot more than one episode in order to do that second one.
