Yeah, I'm kind of afraid of the whole video tape thing happening too. Well, not just that, but that my video tapes that I have will get damaged too. For those reasons, I've been trying (key word is trying, since it takes me two million years to do anything) to transfer them to DVD. I'd gotten a DVD recorder relatively inexpensively for the time about a year ago, and if I ever finish it'll have been a pretty good investment. So far I've transferred quite a bit, but my downfall is that I'm too fricking meticulous about it and want to make sure I get old commercials saved as well. But seriously, I would think that long before VCRs go the way of the dinosaur, DVD recorders will be really inexpensive (the cost keeps going down) and you'll be able to convert as well. I just wish the technology was a bit better and I didn't have to play things all the way through for them to record it all. That's the most time consuming part of it all.
