I think it was funny when he said it, or I dunno. Cos, I think he said it outloud in a talky interview (I didn't see this or hear it - just read about it online) and if he said it outloud then it'd be easier to hear the sarcasm.

Of course he has a cape. It's quilted, pieced together from old pink shirts and lined with that greased stained gray sweater that he used to wear everywhere. The famous TX belt buckle is in fact a utility belt. He has no 'Bat Signal', because he really doesn't help anyone be a better boyfriend, he just sits around in his cape and belt playing Nintendo.
