Sam Winchester. Name change. \o/

I'm afraid this is going to sound offensive and it's really not meant to. / disclaimer.

I was thinking about Supernatural and Sam last night and this morning and I've come to the conclusion that Sam Winchester is autistic* or Jared's kind of portraying him that way.

Wait, wait. Hear me out.

*and not soulless.

Castiel asked Sam what he was feeling and Sam said he wasn't because he has no feelings. / this paraphrased.
And yet, Sam's had several expressions since his "soulless" return.
I'm not an expert but it seems that if you're not feeling anything you wouldn't have any expressions. You'd just be neutral.

Years ago I watched a documentary on faaaaaaaaaaaaaaces [The Human Face hosted by John Cleese]**

One of the people he talked to was a college aged boy (I think he was around that age) who had Asperger's. Now, I don't remember exactly how their conversation went but basically the boy said that he modelled his facial expressions on what expression(s) the person he was talking to had.

And it seems that it is sort of what Sam is doing. Seriously, it does.

I was also looking at the symptoms on this page and I believe Sam has a couple of them.

**It was a really good documentary and if you haven't seen it, you should. And if possible you should tell me where, if possible, one might be able to download it because I'd love to see it again.

As an autistic person myself, I need to correct your misconception here.

Autistic people have emotions. We just don't show them in our faces. I've been told many times that I am incredibly hard to read because of this.

Not showing emotions is not the same thing as not having emotions.

Oh, no no. I know that. I guess I didn't express myself properly. I meant that if Sam really was soulless and didn't have any feelings or emotions that way then he wouldn't be showing any expressions. But if he were autistic and had feelings (like people do) he just maybe wouldn't know how to express himself the way someone without autism would.

Does that make sense? I'm not that good at saying what I want, in real life I gesture a lot and say, 'you know?' and the other person is like, 'No.' Then I'm like, 'Oh.' and then we stop talking.
