The Time Traveller's Wife and The Kite Runner || Mitch Hedberg || Jared Padalecki

- I read The Time Traveller's Wife and The Kite Runner this weekend.

- Enjoyed them both.

I talked Hassan into firing walnuts with his slingshot at the neighbor's one-eyed German shepard. Hassan never wanted to, but if I asked, really asked, he wouldn't deny me. Hassan never denied me anything. [The Kite Runner]

- When I read that I thought, 'Oh, I'm reading a Sam/Dean fanfiction.' but then it turned out slightly different. :p

* * *

Mitch Hedberg: I like cinnamon rolls. That's why I wish they made, like, a cinnamon roll incense. 'Cause I don't always have time to make a pan. Perhaps I'd rather light a stick, and have my roommates wake up with false hopes

Jared Padalecki: I love cookies baking. During the winter, they have these candles that smell like cookies, and I always buy like a hundred of them.

Bonus Question: Do people staying with Jared and/or spending the night wake up with false hopes?

LMAO Maybe their hopes were already torn because of the said sleeping (or not sleeping) with Jared. The cookie smell just adds to the disappointment.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha. Maybe.

[identity profile] kilynn16.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
No. People who stay with one Jared Padalecki always wake up satisfied and smiling. ;)

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, rilly?

[identity profile] pippilottah.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Both those books made me cry.
I only just read The Kite Runner last week and I loved it.

Wait, did Jared actually say that? When?

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I cried too - I really really enjoyed the Kite Runner, I had no idea what it was about when I got it and yeah. So good.

I'm not sure when he said it, but it's among the quotes in his IMDB profile.

[identity profile] pippilottah.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Me neither, I wasn't even expecting it to be very good but it truly was. Saw the movie last night and I thought it was rather good but I don't think I would've appreciated it as much as I did if I hadn't read the book.

It does sound like something he might say ;)

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering how the movie was, happy to hear that it wasn't awful.

Heh, it does.

[identity profile] pippilottah.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Far from awful. I had three movies on my computer that I wanted to watch and The Kite Runner was the only one I actually enjoyed. The music in it is brilliant.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
What were the other movies?

[identity profile] pippilottah.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
The Princess Bride (I could only get through 1 hour, even though everyone seems to love it, I found it really boring) and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (I read that book as well last week but the movie wasn't all that interesting).

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
YOU COULDN'T GET INTO THE PRINCESS BRIDE??!!! Oh, honey. Please please give it another try.

I've not heard of other one, but the title is interesting.

[identity profile] pippilottah.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
But it was so boring, I almost fell asleep :(

It's about this French guy who has a stroke and then his only way of communicating is batting his left eyelid (or maybe his right, I forgot). It's a true story and he "wrote" a book about his life before and after the stroke.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
But it's one of the best love stories ever told! Seriously, it's a good movie. *nods*

Hmm, that sounds kind of interesting or really stupid and boring.

[identity profile] pippilottah.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe you're right, but I don't think I can watch it again. Not anytime soon anyway.

The book is definitely interesting but as soon as I got done, I was wondering how the hell they could make an entire movie about this and still have it be good. The movie was okay but definitely didn't hold my interest as much as the book did.

[identity profile] thursdaywench.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
nope, cause Jared has other things that smell like cookies that are fun to eat ^.^

also, Kite Runner, such a good book. *squishes it*

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Other things? Like ... actual cookies?

[identity profile] strippedpink.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
>>Do people staying with Jared and/or spending the night wake up with false hopes?

ahaha not if it's true that he walks around in assless chaps.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha.

"Dammit, Jared I thought you were baking cookies."
"Nah, just got these candles, but hey, I'm wearing assless chaps."
"Oh. Well, then you're forgiven."

is that how it goes?

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
!!!! DO IT MOCK HIM! Jared doesn't get mocked nearly enough. I'll protect you from Jensen and his damn dictionary.

[identity profile] mistojen.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the false hope would lie in thinking that he's in the kitchen naked baking said non-existent cookies...

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That is a good point. And a really good image.

[identity profile] mistojen.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
And a really good image.

I'm harboring it in my happy place, personally.
