oh. okay then

went to wal mart and bought a few things.

a package of lighters goes across the scanners. a message pops up on the uh ... thingy (i should learn words) asking if the customer is 16 or older. okay, fine.

and then, erm. the one direction book where we are goes across the scanner and a message comes up asking if the customer is 17 or older.

really? no but like, seriously?

you have to be at least 16 to light things on fire. and then at least 17 to read about a boy band?

They want you to mature for a year after buying the lighter just in case reading about a boyband gives you homicidal urges. (Clearly, they've never met One Direction.)

that is weird.

Well maybe they just don't want kids buying lots of lighters? If you'd just bought one, I wonder if there would be a pop up message. Or because lighters are usually for cigarettes...and the legal smoking age is 16 in Canada?

IDK about One Direction though. I can only assume the store wants to make sure a responsible adult is buying this book, and not some teen who has stolen mommy's credit card to feed her 1D addiction...(and couldn't you lie? Like if you really wanted the 1D book and you were 14, are they gonna know you're really 14 if you hit the yes button?)

idek maybe they think you're going to light the book on fire?

Well it is One Direction and they should come with a warning label.
