TV Is So Shiny

I left work early today and instead of doing anything productive with my day (ha!) I spent the day watching the first season of Merlin. Okay, I watched the first episode last night and then the rest today.

Overall, I enjoyed it though there were times I was rolling my eyes thinking, 'Stop being so dramatic, ugh.'

Behind the cut I talk about the characters on Merlin but also about Buffy and Supernatural because I don't know how not to.

I think that Arthur might be my favourite. I like that he's snarky and cocky but you never doubt that he loves and cares for Merlin. Sometimes in a slashy way but often times in a friendship sort of way. Arthur is how I'd like Dean to be. I guess, he's sort of how Dean used to be once upon a time. I just hope Arthur doesn't become like how Dean is these days.

I love Merlin a lot. And I'm starting to see Colin Morgan as attractive now. I understand that he has to keep his magic a secret but sometimes I just want him to say 'Screw, it.' and let loose with it and show 'em all what he's really capable of. Obviously, he'd be the Sam of the relationship and I suppose they have things in common (keeping their powers a secret) but, I want him and Willow to practice their magic together and ride horses when they're taking a break.

Gaius is awesome and I'd like to see/learn what he's really capable of.

I like that Gwen is a simple character. Well, so far. She's sweet and lovely without being annoying or sickening.

I suppose I like Morgana, I don't really have an opinion on her just yet. She does have Keira Knightly mouth which is sometimes distracting.

I want Uther to be more like Giles! I know that Anthony is an actor and is just pretending in the way he's directed to and such but dammit. I want Giles to be king!

And that about sums it up.

It'll be awhile before I can watch S2 and the other seasons so please no spoilers.

I think Merlin has great characters. Not so great plots sometimes. I describe it as kind of Saturday Morning cartoon, kind of fun but not terribly good. I mean, really, there's only so many times Arthur can be unconscious when Merlin needs to use magic. Really.

I want Uther to be more like Giles!

It took me all of season one to separate Giles and Uther in my mind. I had such a crush on Giles back in the day....UNF for the nerdy hot librarian!

I never had a crush on Giles but I loved him lots and this Uther is kind of dickish. But the one time he laughed he sounded like Giles (I guess technically he sounded like Anthony laughing but still) uhm, right. My point is it was really nice.

Hah. No, it's not wrong at all. There are some dickish characters that I love (though I can't think of any at the moment but I'm sure that there are) but there's something about Uther that I don't like.

Merlin is quite enjoyable.

I don't quite want to make babies with him but whenever I listen to him sing Legal Assassin and he gets near the end when he's all growly I almost always get a little down low tingle

Haha yayyy Merlin is cool! Arthur's definitely my favorite, kind of in the same way he is yours. He has this goofy exterior but really he has the heart of a lion, and there's a lot of weight on his shoulders but he's just soldiering right through.
