James Joyce? The opening lines of Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man? I am just showing my nerd here?

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2010-07-14 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, I'm just showing my lack of reading.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2010-07-14 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
That'd probably be a lot more amusing if I knew James Joyces stuff. :/

The letters Joyce wrote to Nora Barnacle, as I understand it, were quite filthy. Often in an unpleasant way. Hence, Kate Beaton's reaction in the comic.

Ahhh.

You might now want to google those letters. :/

Although, I don't find them that off-putting (compared to other folks 'round the net). I mean, you can't say they didn't have passion for one another.

I think that I just might.

The joke, of course, being that you write like a dirty old man. ;)

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2010-07-14 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
That is pretty accurate.

[identity profile] thekatcameback.livejournal.com 2010-07-14 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
you write much better than Joyce. :(

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2010-07-14 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
I don't actually know his writing but uhm, thank you.
