agents of shield

so are they going to tell us what happened to / with Agent Coulson on the show or do you think they'll drag it out and reveal it in one of the movies?

ps. i really fail at updating lj. i am very aware of this.

What do you mean by what happened?

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2013-10-17 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
the whole "spent time in tahiti" (?) which didn't actually happened, or something more happened. and as far as I can remember, they've not said what.

[identity profile] donna-c-punk.livejournal.com 2013-10-17 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, how he's not dead or something? I haven't watched any of it yet. Keep hearing too many negative reviews. Wanna see how it's improved by the winter break before giving it a look

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2013-10-17 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, it has to do with him not being dead.

negative reviews? really? that's a shame, I know I'm easily impressed with things / doesn't take much for me to like something but I don't think I see a lot wrong with the show.

[identity profile] donna-c-punk.livejournal.com 2013-10-17 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
There's a lot of bitching about the characters who aren't Coulson or Ming Na. And production values. Shit like that.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2013-10-17 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I had started a reply to this awhile ago, and then got distracted ...

Hmm, I suppose maybe they're one note characters and maybe stereotypes? But I personally don't see anything wrong with that. I mean, the show is fun and entertaining. I don't need a slew of complicated characters to make it a OMG THRILLING WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!?! type of show.

[identity profile] citibyrd.livejournal.com 2013-10-17 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing they'll do it on the show. It'd be kind of weird to drop so many hints and then actually reveal it outside of the show. But who knows, I suppose.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2013-10-19 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking it'll be on the show, I hope the show makes it long enough that they will be able to reveal it - if it's a thing they want to tell us

[identity profile] giantlovetingle.livejournal.com 2013-10-17 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
gosh i really hope they do cos it'd be good to discount some of my theories

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2013-10-19 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, what are some of your theories?

[identity profile] giantlovetingle.livejournal.com 2013-10-22 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
Clone and/or some kind of robot/cyborg replacement. Like, the tropical island he keeps remembering is a false memory planted in his brain. He was actually being cloned, or having his killed dead parts replaced with robot parts. That's my dark theory anyway.

On one hand I'd like something like that, but then on the other, it'd be funny to have all this tense build up and have the pay off be some kind of joke.

Do you have any theories?

[identity profile] malevolent73.livejournal.com 2013-10-18 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Haven't watched the newest episode yet, but I keep teasing the hell out of my son and saying "Android Coulson gives an order." "Android Coulson is snarky." "Android Coulson sure can dodge flying objects well." He keeps yelling "He is not a robot!" Although, his theory is that they took him to Asgard and healed him since it was a weapon from another world that "killed" him, and it imbued him with some slightly super abilities. I could get on board with that. :)

As to the actual question, I hope they reveal in the show. I don't even think he should ever appear in the movies again because it is such a cheat that he's alive in the first place. But, that just one gal's opinion. :)

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2013-10-19 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Do you really think that maybe he's an android now? That might be kind of neat. But taking him to Asgard, that makes a lot of sense.

I disagree that it's a cheat, but that could just be because I enjoy the character and am glad he's not dead. :) And I do hope he's in the next Avengers movie, but I don't care about the other ones.

[identity profile] malevolent73.livejournal.com 2013-10-22 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not really sure if he's an android, but watching the show with that in mind makes things seem funnier. Like if they even mention anything about him being different or robotic or whatever I laugh, and my son grimaces. LOL

I love his character too, and I trust whoever is running things, so I'll probably be fine with however they retcon it. :) As long as the Avengers are ok with it, so am I. :D

[identity profile] rainbow-goddess.livejournal.com 2013-10-18 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm okay with it being a mystery until the next Avengers movie. I'd love to see Tony discovering that Phil is alive. I'm curious about something that was said in the most recent episode, though, when his former fling said that he'd changed.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2013-10-19 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I like to think that they already know that he's alive. And yes, I too am curious about what she said as well.

[identity profile] heatherosa.livejournal.com 2013-10-19 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
You fail at updating waaaaay less than I do.

Also, I have purposely gone out of my way to not watch SHIELD in protest of the whole recent "oh my gosh, Joss Whedon is a god and and everything he touches is gold!" movement. 1) Iron Man 3 aka Avengers wasn't THAT amazing. 2) Hi, Whedon has been around for a while now and sudden mass bandwagons annoy me. 3) I'm still kind of annoyed with him that he won't just admit that the Toad line in Xmen sucked instead of still, all these years later, trying to blame it on Halle Berry's acting. Sometimes your writing can be bad dude. It happens. Suck it up and build the bridge.
Plus if I recall correctly SHIELD is up against Seth's new show and that loyalty will always run deeper.
Speaking of which. Went to a taping of that. Siiiiiigh. When I was leaving he was like five feet from me. FIVE FEET. Had his wife not been right next to him I might have acted like a crazy person. :-)

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2013-10-19 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Oh, hello to you!

As much as I enjoy/love/flail at all things Whedon, I do admit that he isn't perfect but. The Avengers was a freaking good movie.

I live in a tv world where most things don't conflict with other things, so I'm okay on that front, even if I'm not watching Dads. Is it an actually okay show or are you just watching for Seth? And and !!!!! you should have done/said something. I'm sure his wife would have understood if you had acted like a crazy person.
