Awake

I'm going to assume that someone else is watching this show.

After the first episode, I was thinking that he was the one who died but couldn't admit to himself and yeah. I don't know where my thoughts were going with that.

But after the second. Laura Innes and that other guy were having a conversation. And I don't remember it at all but clearly they KNEW and KNOW things and wait, what? Is she still playing her The Event character?

And okay, I don't have anything to say about tonight's episode.

Just. What are your theories for what is happening? (ps. If you know actual spoilers, please don't spoil me.)

Have "they" some how created two different worlds to see which one works better?

I so so so want to see this show. It looks amazing and confusing and awesome, like Fringe and that is the shit I like, LOL. ^_^

I'm oddly not thinking about why this dude is seeing two worlds. I mean, peripherally I suppose it could just be emotional trauma from losing his wife/his son perhaps both, but tbh I kinda just watch at face value, like this dude really is living in two different worlds. /shrug

I have no theories, though I like your first one a lot.

Mostly, I'm just enjoying watching, and the fact that Cherry Jones therapist thinks using clues from the "altermate life" is genius and judgy B.D. Wong therapist thinks it's insane and irreponsible. \o/

You should watch it. But I don't think it's twisty or confusing like Fringe is. I mean, I've only seen a few episodes of Fringe but yeah.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2012-03-16 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
\o/ But do you have any theories?

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2012-03-16 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Mostly, that's how I watch it too but sometimes I'm curious as to how and why he's living in different worlds.

:nods: Mostly, I'm enjoying watching as well.

But if you come up with any theories, I'd like to hear them.

There's always the 'coma' possibility, because it doesn't seem as if this could be anything like even slightly altered reality. We all know what happens when you don't sleep. It gets ugly, very fast. :0

Or the straightjacket-in-the-white-rooom possibility, too (catatonia). I was talking about the general premise with my daughter, and she mentioned that even though the guy has lost his wife in one world and his son in the other... he still has them both. They just don't have each other.

She thought that was kind of happy. I think that, right now, both his wife and son are so in mourning in his separate worlds that they are both closed off from him (and he's somewhat distanced from their feelings by the fact that the missing person is alive in his other world, for half of every day).

So the "think like a logical person" part of me says that the character lost them both, and is in a loony bin right now locked in his own subconscious where he's trying to make sense of it all and the best he can do is cope with half-losses in two different worlds.

Yark. Now I've overthought. Or something. :0

I like all of that, but I'm still confused as the conversation between Laura Innes (don't know character names) and that other guy. It seems like they know something.

I decided this looks too depressing and sad. I mean, hey...either way, important people are dead.
Are you enjoying it?

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2012-03-17 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
I guess it sort of is sad but yes, I do enjoy the show.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2012-03-17 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
But don't you know you're supposed to look for the deeper meaning and/or theory in all the shows you watch. :p

I just finished ep 3 and I think he's comatose or dead. (The story is really close to a movie called Stay, that I love so much, so these are my best options.) I'm leaning towards him maybe being in an induced coma now after Creepy boss and mysterious guy showed up. I'm thinking they set up the accident to cover up something and maybe PLOT TWIST this will turn into some mind digging Fringe type thing where he has information that they need. 0__o

This last ep was great in showing us that he can take information from one verse to the other and one verse can affect the other, but my brain is still confused. lol

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2012-03-17 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2012-03-17 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I was thinking dead too but I like the idea of being in a coma more.

But. Please explain to me (because my brain can't comprehend simple things sometimes) how Laura Innes (one day I'll learn her character's name) and that other guy were able to have that conversation. Because clearly they know something.

Or if he is in a coma, was he just projecting?

[identity profile] punnky-kitty.livejournal.com 2012-03-18 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna have to look at the transition again, but maybe that scene happened in the real world. or maybe they were talking around his comatose body and he projected it into a scene. so many possibilities!

i can't wait until next week to see more developments.

I thought that perhaps he was the one who was dead as well, but I am now beginning to doubt myself re: those two chattering about him etc. /confused but liking the show

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2012-03-21 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'd like to hear some more chatter between those two so maybe we could learn more. And perhaps go, 'Ooh.'
