Even though I don't know how I feel about this show I am going to be really spammy about it.

So, Dean said (and this is slightly paraphrased) "I only went to them (Lisa and Ben) because you told me to!" or perhaps he said, "because you asked me to!"

... WHAT? Like, seriously that is the ONLY REASON Dean's there now? Or well, that's the only reason he started out there? No, but seriously seriously?

If Sam had said to him, 'I want you to poke yourself in the eye and ride a horse off a cliff' Dean would have done that?

I get that Dean's got issues but not that long ago when Sam said to him, 'I think we should split up.' he was all fine with that AND ... what? Did we miss all the phone calls Dean made asking Sam what he should do every moment? Or is it just for big moments (the ones that even if you see 'em coming you're not ready for them) that he asked Sam.

I do not understand this show and it's logic at all.

eta: When Buffy died, all she told Dawn to do was "live" ... why couldn't Sam say the same? And okay, maybe I'd get if Dean went there for a bit to stay there for a year? I don't know.

Your post is directly preceded by this post (http://dauntdraws.livejournal.com/34129.html) and I'm just lol'ing to myself.

Anyway, I maintain my view that Lisa is a shitty parent, the people who came up with the whole Dean + Single Mother storyline did not ask any single mothers what they might think of the whole thing, and the entire thing sucked ass.

And when Dean leaves and Ben has to deal with that, it's going to be one less reason to like the direction the show has headed in and one more reason to dislike Dean.

Fridays, man. It's where all the shows go to die.

re: single mother SL.

I don't even have kids. And was fortunate enough to have both of my parents until my father died. But that was a HUGE insult to single mothers of sons (and even DAUGHTERS) everywhere. To make it sound like a boy can't look up to a woman, whose obviously done VERY well for herself WITHOUT a man, as a symbol of strength and courage. What the fuck decade are you living in, Sera? The 1950s??

When they first introduced Lisa, I thought that's where they were going with her in regards to Dean. I was all set to see Dean get slapped in the face with reality and be able to identify with a female character on the show, and instead they turned her into a simpering little thing. I mean, who raised Ben? Because it seems to me that she couldn't have done it, not if she's anything like they're making her out to be.

It's obvious that they're definitely not trying to impress all the women in my demographic, and I'm sure there are tons of us out there watching this show.

And considering Dean Winchester as a character, I simply don't buy that he'd purposely put a child in danger. He said that he knew it'd come down to this, that something always comes (I forget the exact line), so if that's true, why stay there at all? Why would Sam, someone who despised growing up in that life, send him to Lisa and Ben? Meh, the whole thing is ridiculous.

Yeah, not being a parent I hadn't given much thought to that aspect of it but after reading your post about it ... Hell yeah. You're right. No decent mother would allow Dean in their house like that, especially since she knows who he is and what he does/has done.
