Holy crap and holy shit. I actually liked maybe even FUCKING LOVED this episode. I know, I know, I'm as shocked as you are. Probably more.

Very interesting that Jimmy's still alive. Makes me hate the ep where Dean took Castiel out to get laid even more now. Be kinda nice sometimes if I could rememember the names of episodes.

Famine says that Dean's all dead/empty on the inside. And yet at the end Dean's crying like he usually does. Which leads me to believe that either a) folks don't really know what empty and/or dead means or ... well, that's all I have really.

But seriously. If Dean were as empty as he was told? He wouldn't be crying and caring about shit. Was Dean told this and then Jensen directed to act that way at the end because of shitty writing or was Dean just told a bunch of shit to beat him down even more so that eventually he'll give in and say, "YES, GOD YES, MAKE ME YOUR VESSEL."

Because I'd imagine if he were all empty he'd be like Scary!Veiny!Willow with her, "This is nothing."

Oh and because it needs saying again ... HOTTEST OPENING EVER. In really real life? Shit like that would be disturbing and probably gross. But in fictional land? HELLO NURSE. I love shit like that.

Okay, right. Let's get to the main point of this post.

Mmm I did love them powers coming back and the bulging muscles and hotness, especially since it felt better this time, like it wasn't him being a drug addicted loser, but a guy fighting something he can't help and then actually able to say no when it counts because he's awesome.

And you know, that would be an interesting twist if they both said yes. Though Dean looks more likely to give in. All you'd have to do is have him watch an emotional Oprah and he'll sob out a 'yes' right away.

I think the various evil things on the show are just trying to emotionally beat Dean down as much as possible. I don't necessarily think it was a literal "dead inside, empty, blah blah" although if it was then, yeah, lamesauce.

When Famine said Dean was just 'going through the motions'? Yeah, I flashed back to the Buffy musical and for a minute there was a little SPN musical in my head. :p

Two things: When Famine told Dean that whole "you're dead inside"? I actually started singing Buffy's 'Once More With Feeling' greatest hits. I literally had to pause the episode to get it of my chest.

And secondly: I hate the whole Sam is a junkie blah, but the "Wait your turn" gave me happy chills. That kind of awesome wrong joyous feeling, like in Born Under a Bad Sign. You know it's bad, but it's so Bad-Ass it's just awesome.

Do you think they'll ever explore Sam's powers without falling back in the junkie-rut? I mean, Ruby did tell Sam he hadn't needed the blood at all and clean!Sam was the one that smelled? heard the heartbeat? of the demon in the first place, when he first crossed paths with the briefcase dude, so...

I don't think that Famine meant that Dean didn't have a soul - I took it to mean that he was saying that Dean didn't give a rat's ass about anything at all - which I don't think is true since Dean cries (which kind of mean he cares) and he still loves his Sammypie. So, that's why I'm so confused about the words that were said and the faces of the actors and how I don't think they go together very well.

I enjoy Sam as a junkie because he's all RAWR and hot and veiny and there's blood involved but only for those reasons - the whole actual junkie part makes me cringe and roll my eyes and think of junkie!Willow and that just leads to badness.

I don't know, I mean it seems like they (writers and such of the show) don't really know what they're talking about because yeah, Ruby said that Sam didn't need the feather but then he didn't have (or at least try to use) his powers until he drank the blood and you'd think in between the season finale and now his powers would've come in handy for SOMETHING and yeah, I just don't get it.
