almost your name

Do you know what your name would have been had you been born the opposite sex? Mine was going to be Christopher Michael.

What about what you were almost named? I was almost Crystal. I'm really glad my mom changed her mind on that one. And then at one point she was going to name me Jericho (as a girl) ... at least I'm fairly sure it was that name. That might've been kinda cool.

[identity profile] alazysod.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine would have been Ted, after my dad's daddy. Dunno about the middle name, but I'm sure it would have been something Swedish.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
And then you could've pretended that you were Ted Danson. :P

[identity profile] pippilottah.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel boring. Ditte was the only girl's name they really liked (it's the main character from one of their fave books) and they didn't even pick out a boy's name at all.
I used to hate my name when I was younger but I've grown to like it and I think it fits me well.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a really pretty (and to me) unique name.

I would have been Benjamin James (my brother). I don't know if I had an "almost name" but I think if my parents had had two boys the second boy would have been Scott.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I do like the name Benjamin. *nods*

[identity profile] fullycompletely.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to be David or Michael. And my mom wanted to name me Megan, but my dad didn't like that.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Katherine does seem to suit you more. *nods*

[identity profile] twofourteen.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
My name would have been Cody if I were a boy. Or Chad. I can't remember. It started with a C.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to pretend it would've been Chad.

My name would have been Linden if I were a boy. I kind of wish they would have named me that anyway.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Hell, yeah. That name for the motherfucking WIN.

[identity profile] crackedbuthappy.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a whole wealth of names my parents wanted to give me. My mom wanted Autumn, my dad wanted Storm or Sapphire Crystal as a girl. For a boy, I would have been Forrest via my mom or Bang, Clash, or...Logan. You'll notice some themes here - country and boring from my mom and weird and X-Men related from my dad. And as it is, I ended up Amber Lee at birth (pronounced like Kimberly). But, I never get called that. My mother's called me Luke since the day I was born and my father calls me Angel.

I don't even know what I'm blathering on about now. So, have a nice day lol.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy by golly wow.

What is your name? Should I know this? Will I feel like an idiot when you tell me? (probably yes)

[identity profile] gretazreta.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome question. And Jericho= quite cool, but imagine all the "walls tumbling down" jokes you would have had..

If I was a boy I was going to be Alexander (yes, after the Great). My Dad's a Classics man.
I was almost... Meredith. Which was of course well before Grey's Anatomy but I have to say (with no disrespect for the Merediths out there...) the Meredith in Grey's is exactly the whiny prim pain-in-the-ass I would expect from that name.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The "walls tumbling down" reference is lost on me. :/

Eee, yeah. Meredith ... is well, it's a bit of a fuddy-duddy name. *nods*

Interesting. I was going to be 'James Galbraith' if a boy (if the letter to grandfather is anything to go by.) But they were pretty set on 'Julie-anne' for girl me I hear.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Does Galbraith have a meaning behind it?

My mom can't remember the name she had picked out for me if I were a boy, but she almost named me Michelle.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Bet she regrets not naming you Michelle, eh? :P j/k

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)

sorrry michelle!

If I had been a boy, my name would have been Matt, which, while it's a nice name, I don't think I would have liked much..

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a bit common, eh?

[identity profile] skadi.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to be Jared or Josh if I was a boy. The other girl possibility was Tara.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Jared, eh? I kind of like that name. :p

DUDE.

I am not even kidding you, I was going to be Christopher Michael, too. I am, as it is, Christina Michelle, WHAT UP.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha. That's freaking awesome. We were almost name twins.

Oh yeah, and. I was almost Dallas, if my mom woulda gotten her way, b/c my grandpa's middle name is Dallas. Which I used to think would have been cool, but now sounds like a stripper name, plus doesn't match with any last names. *sigh*

Dallas + Jericho = BFF.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I like the name Dallas. And yeah, if we'd been Dallas and Jericho we would've had to have been friends or at the very least gone on the road together for some reason. I'll go with a singing act, even though I can't sing at all.

[identity profile] imagination55.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah I like these sorta questions LOL.

I think I was gonna be Jake or Jack and my mother nearly called me Sasha but she didn't want me to have a middle name because she hated hers so I would've ended up as Sasha Smith! Two Ss, not good. So my sis is named after the actress Natalie Wood and I'm (thanks to my sis) named after the author Danielle Steel. Apparently lol.

Random sidenote, I nearly had an uncle named Denver. And that was in the 50s! My gran was forward thinking ;) Up yours, Hollywood mums!

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Jack and Jake are nice names, I like them.

Huh, yeah. I'm glad your mom changed her mind Sasha Smith doesn't flow that well.

[identity profile] getyourguns.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
My was going to be Christopher Lloyd if I was a boy.
My mom wanted to name be Bronwyn but my grandma talked her out of it. There were a few other names, but I don't remember. I wish it had been something more creative than Brittanie, but she swears she didn't know any Brittanies when I was born. 1985 is apparently the year of the Brittanie/Britney/Brittany etc. though. There was even a girl with my exact name in 6th grade, just spelt differently.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Brownwyn's pretty.

Were you friends with the girl who had the exact same name as you or did you shun her?

I would have been William Manuel if I was a boy. I was almost Victoria because Mom loves the name Vicki. -- It's my middle name and Kathleen Victoria sounds better than Victoria Kathleen.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
*nods* Yes, Kathleen Victoria does sound much nicer.

[identity profile] harleymae.livejournal.com 2008-06-29 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I would have been GEORGE. I was supposed to be, anyway, since my parents were told I was a boy. My dad claims I was going to be named Anton, but my mother denies all knowledge and she would have had the final decision.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
If you'd been born years ago George would've been a fine name but in this day and age? Yeah, not so much. I'm glad you're a girl. :p

[identity profile] malcolm-stjay.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I would've been Grant Robert as a dude, or almost Olivia as a girl. And I used to think Olivia would've been awesome, but eff that. I like my name waaaay better.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Olivia's a pretty name. *nods*

Erm, what is your name? Is it Malcolm? *is slow*

[identity profile] notthebigspoon.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I would have been Wilbur. It's my grandpa and father's first name. My name turned out being Victoria Faye [-insert last name here-] and I'm fine with it, and while I don't care for my middle name, I love my last name.

My middle name was [when they found out] I was intended to have been Victoria Jane, but my dad hated that and changed it while my mom was still strung out on painkillers.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Wilbur, eh? Makes me think of Charlotte's Web, it does.

[identity profile] popmusicjunkie.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
If I was a boy, my parents were going to name me Colin Patrick.

When I was born, my mom fought my dad tooth and nail to name me Kari Elizabeth.
She lost.

[identity profile] certainthings.livejournal.com 2008-06-30 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Are you happy with the name you have now or do you think you'd like to have been Kari Elizabeth?
