what I've learned is that I don't like it when people (and by people I mostly mean "customers") ask me Did you have a good weekend/How was your weekend.

like, I don't know. It was two days where I didn't have to bother with you. I sat and watched television and spent 2000 hours on the internet.

just stop asking me difficult questions.

Oh man, I relate to this SO MUCH.

(I'm this ridiculous mix of being all hermit-y and being envious of all those people out having fun plans & being social on the weekend....)

Haha. You were not meant for customer service that involves actual... talking.

But you can practice this: "Good! You?" Then people will either just say "Good" or they'll tell you about their weekend, and it takes the pressure off. ;)

yeah huh. like, when I'm at home there are times when I'll think, 'wouldn't it be nice to be a social person, to go out with friends and have a good time.' but on the rare occasion when I am out after an hour or two it's, 'okay, time to go home, shouldn't have left the house. *siren noises*'

hahaha, yeah. I'm not sure how I've lasted this long in a job with customers. and I do do the "good, you?" thing, it just gets to be so boring. actually, a lot of the time I just answer with "well, I'm here." and let them judge how I'm doing.
