Supernatural: 7x06: Slash Fiction

I have a question or two about last night's episode.

A handful of you have said / pointed out that the diner scene was a homage to the Pulp Fiction diner scene.

I'm going to assume you mean the one with "Any of you fucking pricks move, and I'll execute every motherfucking last one of ya!"

And if that is the scene.

How did you make the connection? Because I did not see that at all. Not even a little inkling of a feeling that Pulp Fiction was the answer to "What movie/show are we ripping off right now?"

It's been along while since I've seen Pulp Fiction and I don't remember much.

So, what line or movement or look was it that led you to Pulp Fiction?

ETA: All right. I clearly missed something because the Pulp Fiction vs Slash Fiction gif that was pointed out to me, shows how obvious it was. I'm not sure if I turned my head, left the room or something else because yeah. Clearly missed the slap in the face.

Also, I saw a little bit of an interview where Jensen said that they would sometimes change lines and one of them was a recent thing that they wanted to "man-up"

Was that the scene with Sam walking away in a huff?

And if so, how was THAT "maned-up"?

I have seen Pulp Fiction many times and I saw the homage immediately. I also felt that the title could in no way be associated with fandom definition of slash fiction so I wasn't worried about that.

I liked the ep. I've liked the season as a whole so far but that could be due to my pre-occupation with real life badness that has been going on recently. I may not be as tuned in as I used to be.

Also, the dialogue change that everyone keeps referencing was really a line change I think. It was supposed to be Sam saying to Dean "I can't even look at you right now." They balked and changed it to what he said last night. Not a big change, just a little less estrogen-centric.

Yeah, since it was pointed out ... it's pretty obvious. Like, I mentioned in the eta I clearly somehow missed something.

??? Okay, that I refuse to believe. :) How is that possible? I mean, the Pulp Fiction thing alone was done between a couple who were madly in love.

And ahhh. Okay. But then I still don't understand why Sam didn't punch him in the face.

Okay, yes, the couple reference was there. I meant the NC-17 slash fiction that is everywhere (that I enjoy online too!) would not be a theme for the show. ;)

Also, I believe Sam should have punched him in the face too!

If you really want to, you can take it to mean that. I never did, but I've never been a Wincester, either. It's all in perception.

Oh, for sure there are people who won't especially those that aren't in fandom and such. But for a lot of us? I do think part of the title was meant in a pairing sort of way.

I saw it like a combination of the "slash" of the horror genre and a play on the Pulp Fiction title. It doesn't bother me if anyone else sees it in the other manner. Because we all see things in the show differently anyways.
